After settling my affairs (including debts) the first thing that I would do is purchase a home in cash. I wouldn't spend over 400,000 because I don't need anything to extravagant and I don't want to be stuck with high property taxes. Then I would work on my "pain free" retirement plan, I would invest at least half of the money and try to live off of the intrest. It would be a "once in a lifetime" opportunity and I wouldn't want to blow it. (remember David Lee Edwards?) Charity begins at home so my immediate family would be taken care of (mortages etc.) Well Good Luck everyone and remember that someday that person can be YOU! I was just curious to see what other folks out there would do. (That includes you Ridge)    Smile

Well naturally I would expand the compound while improving the defensible perimeter and re-fortifying the bunkers with another ten feet of reinforced concrete.

Then I would complete the construction of all the secret tunnels and passageways honeycombing my surrounding ridges.

Then finish up with booby-trapping the surrounding woods and stocking my arsenal to the max with the latest weapons and enough ammo for at least 50 years of sustained combat.

I'm not really much of a people person.

Funny. I voted "other" because that's what I was thinking. Buy someplace out in the middle of nowhere to be by myself with the wife and family when the country finally goes straight to hell.

i almust hate to say it, but first big ticket item, is making my friends large job offers,      am talking about offering them a job that pays 200k ish plus a year, to work for me as my full time personal assists. 24/7/365 days a year

now as their job is to be my  personal assistants,  i can keep them close, keep them form begging" they earn it" and they already know what i Love and Hate.................................

i mean ofc a new home and cars and stuff are in order, but i plan to spend about a few million first year "hiring" all people i know who are worth a .

i rather buy happy times then give my money to someone who just asks and never see them again.     money can buy happyness if you Buy right Items

i know so, cease even as a "poor" person compared to jackpot winners,  things i do buy, make me very happy indeed.

and items i do own, i get must enjoyment out of them, with company"friends" to use my items with me,     so i glady buy all the "time" they give to a job,  so i can have them  all to my self. ands not share it with current jobs that seem to eat up good deal of their time vs spending it with me.

so yes,  taking my money and  buying people is my first big ticket item. ..............................

Well, if you ever go back into Wooley Swamp,
Well, you better not go at night.
There's things out there in the middle of them woods
That make a strong man die from fright.
Things that crawl and things that fly
And things that creep around on the ground.

          Is this about it?

Nah, I ain't skeered o' man nor beast and I ain't got no swamps.

I just like peace and quiet and I could go for years without seeing another human bean and it wouldn't bother me a lick.

I like most kinda critters though, ceptin fer skunks and bears that like to tear up my outside cookstove fer the grease and then get to lookin in my winders fer more.

I will get my sister a house because we don't need a house mom and me.  But my sister and her family need a house.  So that is what I would do if I had won the jackpot.-weshar75

Ah...I'll just get a bigger apartment. And a few stuff to furnish my apartment. The stuff to furnish my apartment won't cost more than $40,000.

Then I will pay for my parents' and my siblings' mortgage and student loans. Rest of my winning goes to income-generating nestegg.

Oh, I forgot. I will have to pay off my bills, also.

I'd either pay off my existing home or buy a new one, not sure which.  We like our small house, but it's starting to need more and more work, so we'd like to get a new house.  We wouldn't buy anything extravagant, but maybe something a little larger so we can have a room for our exercise equipment.

With MegaMillions coming to Louisiana on November 16, my chances of a big win will get higher.

Tonight's CA SLP jackpot is $17,000,000. The tax will be 25%, if I present my SSN and the proof of citizenship. The actual amount will be $9,000,000. I am splitting the jackpot with my parents and siblings so I will end up getting 85%. You know, housing is crazy expensive in So Cal, and I don't want to pay the property tax, and I am single. I live in a studio apartment and I would be happy to get a two bedroom apartment near LA area, and quit my dayjob for a while.

Funny, I had those number dreams...twice. One was back in 2009 and the other was in Dec 2010. I guess I might have two chances to win the jackpot. :)

Honestly, I can see us stopping at the car lot on the way home from the lottery office. It wouldn't be a high end luxury car/truck, though; it'll probably be something more mid-range with a few bells and whistles. Then we'll drop the current car off at the shop for an overhaul, 'cos I love that old thing. Setting up kids' tuition would be next on the list, along with investing for our future and helping out some friends, family and charities. Then we'd take a few trips before deciding to complete the fixes on our current house or whether we want to buy somthing someplace else. That'll probably have something to do with which of those daydream business ideas we'd actually want to invest our time into.
