Hi everyone, I'm checking in from Washington, D.C., attending the La Fleur's Lottery Symposium today and tomorrow.

The Le Fluer's symposium is a conference for US lottery personnel and vendors who provide products and services to the lotteries.

As the lottery industry will be undergoing some rapid changes this year and next, as a result of the sudden focus on Internet sales, I thought this would be a good year to attend and listen to what the lottery execs themselves have to say.

Much of the conference focuses on marketing efforts by the lotteries, as expected.  This part of the conference is probably not very exciting for average players.  But there was quite a bit of discussion about the new upcoming national game that has been in the works in various forms over the past several years.  There were also interesting details about expanding lottery ticket sales to the Internet.

I am planning to write up a news story some time this week after the conference is over to provide some insight into what lottery players can expect over the next year or two.

It has also been a pleasure to meet several lottery directors and other personnel, as well as various lottery vendors.  The lottery industry might be a somewhat "closed society", but everyone I met has been engaging and friendly.

More to come!

          I would appreciate:

          • better payouts in low ranks
          • 50 cents per combination, maybe an option to play for less and get in consequence x percent of the jack pot,
leave the rest for roll over (prorata payout).

We have online play here, they also include full wheels, one ten number wheel with good payout for 10 euro, full key wheels.
They don't charge for online playing, it is rather the opposite.

You know that they can introduce wheels and statistics in their websites, also blogs.

Sounds interesting, Todd, I'd like to be a fly on the wall.

Also, it's getting toward lunchtime and the mention of DC makes me think of the burgers at Capitol City Brewing Co.

                    Have fun.

                      Dear Mr. Todd Northrop,

Please lobby for higher payouts on lower-tier prize levels for the MegaMillions and PowerBall Lotteries.

                      Thank you,

Yes, or all the states that want to participate anyway.

Just got back from D.C.  I'm not sure when I'll have everything written up, but when I do it will be in the News section.  It was an interesting couple of days, and I'm glad I went.  Le Fleur's does a great job — it was a very well-run conference.

Did they hold a drawing for door prizes?  Did you win anything?
