Whew!  I finally completed development work on a bunch of stuff and updated the site this evening.

Probably the biggest new feature is the additional of an all-new Lottery Charts section, featuring charts for Pick 3, Pick 4, and Quinto games.

Unlike most lottery charts you'll find on the Web, Lottery Post's charts include both Straight combinations and Box combinations for each chart.  Most other charts out there only focus on Box combinations — mainly because it's not easy to produce the straights, and because it's not easy to find good ways to display the large amounts of data required.

The Lottery Post charts have solved that by making the big charts "dynamic":  the data for huge chart sections can be loaded dynamically as you need it, and data that is not needed does not need to be loaded.

(Also, I think many charts out there focus just on the Box combinations because the Web site owner has decided that box combinations is the "best" and "only" way to look at the data.  Lottery Post does not believe a Web site should tell you the "best" way to play, because as far as I know, nobody has the silver bullet of how to always win numbers games.  We think you should keep an open mind and try different methods of play!)

The charts currently include Straight/Box Combinations, Sums, Root Sums, and Sum Last Digit, but is designed to add any other types of charts in the future.  So feel free to suggest other charts we should include.

You will see that the Lottery Charts section also includes Quinto!  I believe Quinto is up-and-coming, and more and more people are starting to focus on the game.  Lottery Post is on the leading edge, providing charts and data before anyone else.

And speaking of Quinto, another feature I added this evening is the ability to generate Positional Wheels for Quinto!

I was pretty nervous about adding Quinto to the Positional Wheels Generator, because of the massive number of combinations that can be generated (100,000), and what strain that would place on our Web server.  But I was able to make the code very efficient, and an entire full Quinto wheel can be generated in a couple of seconds.  Add a couple of filters and the wheel generates in the blink of an eye.

All the same powerful filters are available for Quinto that have been available for Pick 3 and Pick 4 wheels.  The possibilities are endless.

One really cool test of the Positional Wheels Generator:  Much of the data in the Lottery Charts section was created directly using the Positional Wheels Generator.

Another nice little addition to the Positional Wheels Generator is the ability to change the output forum, so you can output dashes, commas, spaces, or nothing at all between digits.

It's also easier to go directly to the Positional Wheels Generator, because the URL of the page has been simplified: www.lotterypost.com/wheel/positional.  (Your links and bookmarks to the old URL are automatically redirected to the new URL.)

Other updates made this evening:

  • Updated sitemap, drop-down menus, and left navigation area to add new Lottery Charts section
  • Optimized many images for faster downloading
  • Fixed problem with Quick Picks page that showed expired games
  • Added Ins/Outs filter to Deflate 3 & Deflate 4 (actually added last week)
  • Fixed problem on Worldwide Jackpots page that made the main menu disappear and the columns un-sortable on IE8 and lower

When you see that I'm not doing a lot of news updates and other stuff, it normally means I'm working my butt off to finish something.  As was the case this time.  There was a ton of work that went into producing the same features for all three games at once (Pick 3, Pick4, and Quinto).

If I did my job right, then it all seems simple on the site.  But as all developers know, making something simple is always the most difficult thing to do.
