The Calif lottery website is deficient in explaining many details about the scratcher games.  (Sigh.)

Suppose I play a $5 game and win "free ticket".  What does that mean exactly?

  1. Does it mean a free ticket for the same game?  What if the game has ended?
  2. Does it mean a free ticket for any $5 game of my choice?
  3. Does it mean one or more free tickets in $1, $2, $3 and $5 games of my choice summing to $5?
  4. Is the interpretation left to the discretion of the retailer?  (Sigh.)

Ideally, I would appreciate a pointer to an official answer by the Calif lottery.  I looked at the "omnibus regulations", to no avail.

Alternatively, it might be helpful if a number of people posted their experience with redeeming "free ticket" wins.
