From 8.00am on Friday, 1 March 2013, exciting changes will be introduced to Powerball to offer players more prizes, big jackpots, more often.

The first Powerball draw subject to the game changes will occur on Thursday, 7 March 2013 (draw #877).

 

 

Powerball structure - 1 March 2013A new Powerball game structure.

Six numbers will be drawn from a barrel of 40 numbers and one Powerball number will be drawn from a barrel of 20 numbers.

 

 

New prize divisions and the introduction of Division Eight.

Due to the new game structure, the combination of numbers needed to win in each Powerball prize division will be modified and an eighth prize division will be introduced to deliver more prizes to players each week.  The prize pool distribution will also be adjusted. 

Powerball prize structure new - from 1 March 2013

The introduction of an eighth Powerball prize division gives you more opportunities to win a prize. 

 

New chances of winning.

The chance of winning a Division One prize in Powerball will change from 1 in 54,979,155 to 1 in 76,767,600, however the chance of winning any prize in Powerball will improve from 1 in 119 to 1 in 78.

    i dont mind the changes , but i dont like the payout to  2nd to 5th prize divisions, i feel the poor saps winning there are  losing out.
