The panhandler convinces you that he/she wants a life away from the street.Would you buy into that thinking? Would you help fulfill their dreams even as you contemplate your own?
Something else to think about-  " What if they Won?" Would you seek them out?

No,  I wouldn't hand over money to a panhandler to play the lottery.

Never. I don't ever give money to panhandlers, precisely because it might go straight to liquor or lottery tickets.

I give to charities, and have provided people food sometimes, but never money. Being homeless or jobless is one thing, but peddling for money on the street, without providing any work or entertainment, that just makes you a bum.

You saw in the news those panhandlers on Hollywood Walk of Fame stab that tourist girl to death because she didn't give them a dollar? Aggressive panhandlers and scam artists are the worst.

No, I would not give a panhandler money to play lotto.

But I might be wondering if they were one of the LP members that posts pictures of the cars and mansions they'd buy if they won when a jackpot is pumped up and the JP frenzy is going on!

            Green laugh

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I would ask them to split the winnings and give them the money if they agreed.

Really b2b, you must not be a very good judge of character if you don't think "anybody" would give $5 bucks away for playing the lottery. I wish someone would ask me for $5. bucks to play the lottery, because I would be thinking this person may just be feeling hot enough to win at that moment. lol. lol.

Crazier things happen all the time. I just gave a guy $20. bucks the other day because he said he wanted to get his bicycle fixed, but before I gave him the money I asked him if he would help someone else with $20 bucks someday if he got the chance and he said yes. lol. lol.

No not that it has to do with judging of character.... it's the fact that someone asking to throw your money away on something they dont have themselves to waste on but they'll waste yours...it's like going to Vegas with no money yourself but asking perfect strangers for money so you can try your luck in the big sin city LOL....You gave a guy $20 buck to fix his bike, but would you ever give money again if you found out it was a ruse he used to get money for drugs or alchohol....also him helping someone someday you just have to take his word on it there's no way to be sure...you'll probably never see him again
