That looks like a nice buy, noise-gate. I love the California homes.

Hope you have guard gated private neighborhoods in your area if not be prepared to have endless array of visitors whom you have never met.

I would probably sign for a house on a ranch in the middle of nowhere BEFORE I claimed the jackpot, because I know that the day my name enters the papers, where I currently live will be promptly robbed LOL

If the chances of winning the jackpot are so slim, why play when the jackpot is so small? Your chances never change, but the potential payoff does.
If a crystal ball showed you the future of the rest of your life, and in that future you will never win a jackpot, would you still play?

A small ranch/ranchette w/ live water and plenty of trees, close enough to a decent sized town to go in for groceries and dining, but far enough away from neighbors to be private.  I'd prefer it to be at the end of a dead-end road and if if I saw someone driving towards my property, I'd know they were coming out to see me, were lost or they didn't have any business being out there.  I also want the mineral rights or most of them or the executive rights to allow drilling (or not) I'm not opposed to drilling or production, but if there's an oil/gas well on my land, I want it to be mine.

I'm always looking at that sort of real estate and I've got my eye on one right now that *might* not even require me winning the lottery.  If I do win the lottery, I know of another property not far from the smaller one;  1700+ acres, nine-hole golf course, high fenced w/ several hundred deer of various types, 30 acre lake, 40 ft. deep fed by multiple springs with several other spring fed ponds, four large homes w/ some other modular ones for hands and their families.   No oil or gas production in the vicinity and most minerals convey. It's "only" $7.5 million. <grin>

Nice house, but I already live in a nice house, may need some repairs cause it's almost 10 years old.

But for me it's not about what I can do w/the money, but rather what I no longer have to do,

and that is being a wage slave, wake up in the A.M. and say OK what will I do today ?

well I guess I'll do whatever I want.

No more mock Med houses that seem to have spawned and multiplied by the millions all over Florida, Cali and Texas. Classic Georgian, Tudor revival or perhaps something with a French flair. But no more <snip>izd Medierranean

Define "major purchase". The first thing I'm buying is a hotel room. 5 stars. Room service and all.

Lawyer, accountant, and financial planner. Then a new car each for me and the wife and a summer home in Michigan so we can be near family part of the year.

The first thing I would buy is a piece of mind and get raid of those nagging bills that won't go away.....
