Remember last year I submitted an INVENTION....I never told any of yall what it was...I think I told a a couple of people in an email....it uses EXISITING TECHNOLOGY that is  already out there...I just THOUGHT of a new way to put it to use...

ITS A HEATING PAD that you can roll out on your side walk during the WINTER MONTHS that will keep your walkway free of ICE AND SNOW...I also designed another one or submittted 2 more acTually...ONE big one for your DRIVEWAY SO NO MORE SHOVELING snow....now...that big one for the driveway has two car sized flaps in the center where 2 cars can park beside each other and then just flap the other heating pads made into the big one for the driveway...just flap them over your vehicles...and in the morning....NO ICE OR SNOW on your VEHICLES...I also figured on another one LIGHTWEIGHT to put on your roof...now I live in SOUTH MISSISSIPPI..snow is very rare down here...but up north...it is not....I DID some research...according to reports I read on the internet....there is approximately over 100,000 injuries every winter from SHOVELING SNOW..you name it...pulled muscles..strokes...heart attacks...all kinds of back trouble...broken bones from slipping on ICEY SIDEWALKS...

NOW..I dont live up NORTH...but the guy I was talking to when I submitted my invention told me he lives in PENNSYLVANIA...and during the winter time..if the sidewalk is covered in ice and snow THE MAILMAN DOESNT EVEN HAVE TO DELIVER YOUR MAIL...but I dont live up North so i dont know if that is TRUE OR NOT...he also told me that it was AGAINST the LAW to drive your vehicle with SNOW ON IT...I could see that being dangerous...

THEY LIKED THE IDEA or so they said...but they wanted me to pay for everything out my pocket...just like my book I could write...on the book part I think I can self publish it myself....but that takes a little bit of money also...I believe I told all of you that I am disabled from a hunting accident...yep..a shotgun at close range can do some serious damage...the HEATING PAD idea I thought was very cool as soon as I thought of it....oh yeah by the way...NORTHERN STATES uses SALT...did some research on that also...ENVIROMENTALISTS DONT LIKE THAT TRUST ME...THE SALT IS ABSORBED INTO THE GROUND UNTIL IT REACHES THE WATER TABLE...ALSO...THE RUNOFF FROM THE ROADS MAKES IT WAY INTO CREEKS AND THEN INTO THE RIVER SYSTEM....not good either way....but anyway...that was it...it is submitted and documented.....maybe the future will be alot more kind than the past was....hahahaha

Well if you are looking for funding for your idea I suggest one or more of the many crowdfunding sites there are out there....google them and check them out you might be able to make a go of it....good luck

      Thanks for sharing!

If the conditions are windy along with the ice & snow, how much wind can the heating pads take before they start blowing around off the sidewalk, car & roof?

Regarding books and self publishing, it actually costs very little to get started. You can self publish for free on some of the well know self publishing sites like LuLu. You can order as many or as few of your books as you want, and pay for them as you need them, even if it is one at a time. NO upfront costs are required by legitimate sites.

Regarding invention submissions, be sure and thoroughly check out any invention companies you deal with. There are a lot of fraudulent companies out there and at some point they will ask for money from you for something (application fees, processing fees, development fees, etc.). If you think your invention may become a success and worthy of investment, a patent would also be very wise.

I am not trying to rain on your parade or be mean but most of those "let us patent your invention" are notorious rip offs. I trust you already obtained a provisional patent as well since you are now disclosing it to the public. If not, you are in serious trouble here already. I did a quick search and it looks like a patent was granted in 1988 for your product and they are already being sold in the marketplace.

Two, as a writer with a real publishing contact, no one should charge you a dime for your book. And remember that self published books have virtually no distribution chain (other than amazon.com) and the big retailers will not even look at them. If you really have a great manuscript, I would spend time learning how to write a query letter, learn what publishers accept direct submissions, learn how and when  to contact a literary agent, etc. Worse case scenario, I would just self publish through whatever program amazon uses to save you money.  If you want to email me, I can give you some links to good websites for writers and a list of agents online (but you will have to do the work and learn the process; and I don't rep).  I teach a class on this stuff but you really need to do your home work here upfront.  And there are rip off vanity publishers as well so you need to learn who is whom.

Hope this helps. Again, I am not trying to be mean here and I admire your ambition but 99% of any book deal or invention is learning the process upfront first and making yourself an expert there. I hate seeing people ripped off.

Also, crowdsourcing for funds for these things are difficult since you are sharing ideas and/or a storyline that should not be shared at this point publicly for various reasons. Remember ideas are not subject to protection.  When you disclose your ideas and discuss your book summary in raising funds, it hurts the future market strength of the book. I was not even permitted to tell my own mother the details of my books prior to their official release. I know one author who got a 3 book deal like I did from the same great publisher and he ran his mouth on the internet prior to release, and they canceled his contract.

LP is a place where lottery players can hangout and share ideas about playing lottery games.  Serious inventors and authors have better places to seek advice about such or at least should make an effort to find a better place.

Nothing to be sorry about there.  Before I retired I worked with a guy who thought he had invented a way to cook bacon in the microwave, he spent over seven grands with one of those companies that help inventors get their ideas to market.  They supposedly did a patent search, came up with suitable food safe materials to produce his idea and made some suggestion on how to make it better.  He finally decided he couldn't afford to see his idea researched anymore and gave up.

A few weeks after I retired there was a story on 60 minutes where a guy and his ten years old son came up with a similar idea using Popsicle sticks on a dish, went directly to Homel meats and they developed it and offered him a piece of the profit for everyone they sold.  I've since seen several ideas for microwaving bacon on the market and none were as complicated as what my co-worker came up with.

LOL cooking bacon in the microwave?? Your right it is not difficult at all...put the bacon on a plate put a couple of paper towels on the bacon (to soak up the grease) run it for about a minute per piece and the take it out an eat it...LOL you dont need a device... I do this every morning for breakfast cause I love bacon...

A good place to go is edison nation. They are responsible for eggies. They are legit and I have submitted several things through them. They have open calls and it is only a small fee one time fee to submit ($20) but you have to split the royalties with them if you idea goes to market...which actually is fair if you do not want to spend thousands upfront.  I made it as far (on my second attempt) to the 9th of 10 steps and my idea and drawings (along with about 20 other people) was presented to the manufacturer but did not make it to step 10. wahhhhhh lol

The best way is to keep ice and snow from freezing.. Get a 5 gal bucket and pour half bag of salt and rubbing alochol and mix it well.. Then pour it into a pump sprayer and point and shoot.. And there is no way it will freeze and snow melts on contact..
