I am conducting this survey for a project in my English class. We are working with the thematic question, “To what extent can you understand someone?” Stereotypes and prejudices make some people uncomfortable, but we face them every day. I have chosen to study and work with the group Lottery Winners for my project. This survey asks you some questions to gauge a general idea of the people’s thoughts and opinions on this group. These answers will only be read by me and possibly my teacher. Your name will not be used in my project. Be as honest and open as you feel comfortable. Thank you for being a part of my project!

    OK, LivvyLucky5, here goes.

    1. 4

    2. That varies, but people here on LP know a lot more than those who only get information during a media jackpot frenzy, like the current Mega Millions jackpot.

    3. 1. YES. Statistically 70 to 80 % of jackpot winners had played Quick Picks. No matter the means of selcting numbers though the fact that the numbers played are the numbers drawn is luck.

    4. Yes, most people do.

    5. 2. It depends. A poster here once said when you win you trade one set of problems for another.

    6. 3, 5, and 6

    7. 2. Yes. I lived in Germany and the local TV weatherman won the Hessen Lotto. He didn't change one bit.

    8. On sensible things. No fleets of cars or bling. Maybe one little go blow a few thousand on something to get it out my system but that would be that.

    9. 1. Yes. All here have. Since you are on this board just do searches on Jack Whitaker, David Lee Edwards, and Abraham Shakespeare (doesn't get more traumatic than that). Also just check out the NEWS Forum - exes suing for shares of jackpots, winners getting poisoned and more.

Also, The Learning Channel runs shows called Curse of the Lottery.

    10. 1. Yes, these are featured on The Learning Channels The Lottery Changed My Life program.

    11. 1. Yes, as I plan to "go to the mattresses".    Smile

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I'm bumping this as LivvyLucky  probably needs some more info.

Thanks everyone! Is there anyone else who would like to contribute?

                    1)      What is your age?

                    1. 10-17
                    2. 18-25
                    3. 26-35
                    4. 36+

                    2)      What do you know about lottery winners?

They win money.  If they are lucky its a lot of money.  If they are lucky its a little money.

                    3)      Do you think that lottery winners are lucky?

                       4)      Do you want to win the lottery? Explain.

I want to win the lottery for a myriad of absurd reasons.  Maybe quit my job, or get a better job, or start a business, or just generally try to unfetter the shackles of society and the limitations of the mind.  (Wheter real or imagined shackles they may be or might not be)

                    5)      Do you think lottery winners are happy? Select all that apply.

                    1. Yes!
                    2. It depends how they use their money
                    3. No
                    4. Their happiness goes up and down

                    6)      Would you save your winnings if you won the lottery or splurge all at once? (select all that apply)

                    1. Spend it on luxuries
                    2. Save all of it in a savings account
                    3. Take a nice vacation or buy a nice house and save the rest
                    4. Quit my job and splurge
                    5. Give some money to my friends and family and save the rest
