David Edward's daughter Tiffany is all grown up and telling her riches to rags story. In an interview with Inside Edition she talks about how her dad  won and lost all of his winnings. Wasting money oneverything from a private jet, fleet of cars, $80,000 on china, 5 lb. gold watch, swords and $200,000 piano. Tiffany could not afford to bury her dad when he passed last year, so she keeps his ashes in a box. She also said her dad told her he put away 1 million dollars in a trust for her that did not exist and he also lost his childhood home. Very tragicand cautionary lottery story.

It's really sad when I read/watch these tragic stories. Money has a way of unleashing materialism in winners that would make psychologists in Madison Avenue weep in envy. Annuities would be the best if the government didn't have such a big appetite for taxes.

    That money's gone fo ever

I recall seeing him give a press conference on how his windfall is a Godsend and that he will not waste it on junk etc.
I also read where he burned through between $150 ,000- $200,000 in under 2 weeks on just himself  & the GF in Vegas.
I know it was his money, but l thought then & now that it was a little excessive on just a trip for two.

It's amazing how anyone can spend that kind of money and not put enough away... no matter how much money you have you can't buy every car, house, jewerly etc.

My thoughts exactly.  When l read of millionaires owning 7 houses, $5 mil worth of jewelry,12 cars- l just  exhale.
I recall reading an article on Kevin Garnett a few years ago where he was showing off his diamond earrings- he called one set ,his  " Low Beams"..the larger set his " High Beams"...okay Kevin,  we get it.

The David Edwards saga is full of what not to do but yet many past and future jackpot winner will emulate at least one of his bad traits. Very sad that a trust never existed for his daughter.

How selfish could he be? He didn't even leave anything for his daughter. I don't feel sorry for him after all he enjoyed the money by himself.Unhappy

Sounds like he should have invested in some life insurances to handle those final bills instead of leaving them for his family.

if you hit a big jackpot set aside some fun money.

ex) if you win 50M spend 1M-3M and invest the rest.

after you make that 1-3M back from your investments, then you can SLOWLY buy your fleet of cars/ gold watches over the years (if thats what your into, I'd rather buy gold bullions) and live off your investments and put more money into your portfolio.
