If you hit 5+0 on mega million or poweball, do you get the full prize amount or is it reduced if you take the cash option like you would if you won the main prize?

    Most second tier prizes get paid out in full, minus the taxes of course. There's no accounting for the 20 year modification. Only major JP wins have to follow those rules. 

    Don't worry too much, the odds of you having to experience such an event is extremely remote.

        Are you too lazy to read the information and rules posted at every website of the states that sell those tickets?  They are also posted at USAMega (link on the left of this page).

         * you don't need to buy more tickets, just buy a winning ticket *
