Do you spend more when the jackpot gets huge like it is now? ($317 million) Ten tickets plus the power play is $30....

I am a $20,000 winner from a Georgia Lottery scratch off game called "$3,000,000 Taxes Paid"!

Nope. I will probably buy one ticket and hope for the best.

Been awhile since the last "jackpot fever" epidemic and the usual nonsensical betting strategies. They asked if we would spend more because of the size of the jackpot and then tell us they will make a $10 bet that can't win the jackpot.

l have re-thought my strategy about the MM & PB game after reading this from a Person named Ronald Wasserstein..

          Executive Director, American Statistical Association.

           He wrote...

A straightforward mathematical calculation using the dimensions of a dollar bill reveals it will take two semi-trailers to deliver the 175,000,000 dollar bills to my house. Once these arrive, they will have to be unloaded, of course, so you will have a fair chance to pick the lucky dollar bill. So, we will lay them out end to end. How long will that line of dollar bills go?

If we start from my house, we'll have enough dollar bills to go all the way south to Disney World in Orlando. Then we'll still have enough to go clear across the country to Disneyland! But, even then, we are not out of dollar bills, so we can go north and make it all the way to Portland, Oregon. Still, we have dollar bills, enough to make it all the way east to Portland, Maine. And, fortunately, we'll have enough to make it back to my house near DC, completing the loop.

Do we have any dollars bills left? Yes! We would still have enough dollar bills to go all the way around the loop a second time!

Now imagine that you walk, bike or drive for as long as you want around the double loop, and when you decide to stop, you stoop over and pick up one dollar bill. Your chance of selecting the lucky dollar bill is one in 175 million, the same as your chance of winning the Powerball jackpot!

          It rings True....

People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it- George Bernard Shaw.

I agree with you I would rather play 15 tickets for $30.

I buy one tic for MM (w/megaplier) and one tic for PB (w/o powerplay).

Texas 2 Step is up to $725,000. I did play $5 for that tonight. Odds are a little more reasonable for that game.

I think he was giving an example of the odds in selecting the winning number--but it doesn't matter.  People who want to win are going to play as long as there is a possibility of winning.

Yes, I don't even buy a ticket until the jackpot is worth winning.  Like now since the local game Rolling Cash5(5/39) game jackpot rolled to over $400K I've started buying a few tickets.  Once RC5 hits if PB is still rolling I may buy a few of its tickets too.

I play often so I never feel the need to play more lines than usual. One or two lines is enough.

                        That money's gone fo ever

I'll wait for the last minute and buy just one ticket with play. If I win and the lottery people will deny my winning I will sue...hehehe

Has that ever happened to anyone who had a winning ticket and could prove they were the legitimate owner?

I would sign the back of the ticket of course, before going further.
