This incredible run of digit 6 reminds me of one of those systems that got me dreaming about chasing key digits many, many moons ago lol.

The idea was simple: just identify a digit that is likely to go on a run, then simply key it, i.e., box all 36 no-match combos and keep reinvesting the profits into your play.

I think it looked something like this using store play prizes of \$80-1 (This was before pari-mutuel prize payouts) :

Draw 1 - Risk \$36 and win \$80 and reinvest \$72

Draw 2 - Risk \$72 and win \$160 and reinvest \$144

Draw 3 - Risk \$144 and win \$320 and reinvest \$324

Draw 4 - Risk \$324 and win \$720 and reinvest \$720

Draw 5 - Risk \$720 and win \$1600 and reinvest \$1620

Draw 6 - Risk \$1620 and win \$3600 and reinvest \$3600

Draw 7 - Risk \$3600 and win \$8,000 - and stop lol.

I remember thinking even back then that this looked too good to be true, and sure enough, in all my years of gambling I've never been lucky enough to get a 6 or 7 consecutive key digits correct, even if I changed what my key digit was! Anyone of you who correctly predicted that we would have key digit 6 for the past draws certainly deserves the \$8000!

Apart from predicting the correct digit, the possibility of doubles can easily trip you up, though you could also include doubles coverage of your key digit. I challenge you to try it on paper! See how many consecutive draws you can predict a key digit. One thing is clear: if you can't do it on paper, you cannot do it in real life where you also have to deal with self-psychological variables, like for instance, fear!

"This incredible run of digit 6 reminds me of one of those systems that got me dreaming about chasing key digits many, many moons ago lol."

I think this is the sort of situation where a mechanical system based on last hit or high frequency would shine!  If I didn't start editing out stuff that "just can't hit", of course!

Vtrac 1 *  has hit 9 in a row.  Only 2 streaks in my 3 year database have gone longer.  The odds of this occurrence are 0.5^9=0.0019 or about 1:500.

For the 6 streak, only 5 streaks have gone longer than 6 in-a-row.  Of those 5 long streaks, 4 ended at 7 in-a-row, and one went to 8 in-a-row, so we should be finished with the 6 by the end of today.  Notice I say "should" -- nothing is guaranteed in this game!

I'm thinking of getting rid of both the 1 and the 6. And, BTW, where the heck are those doubles?

* I use Base 5 numbers (aka "mirror" numbers) instead of conventional Vtracs, so v.1=1,6.

Well Tia, if we get rid of digits 1 & 6, then the odds are dramatically improved!

With 2 digits, we will have in effect eliminated 48% of the field of 1000 straights!

Sounds good to me!

I wonder though if the paucity of doubles means that we are setting up for another trip.

Interesting thought, Lothob, and one that had not occurred to me.  Something to ponder...
