                @ IB

The payoffs in these races never cease to amaze me. Given such a heavy favorite in such a small field normally there would never be this kind of money given back to bettors, but I guess there was just so much money in the pool, that they had to give it back. Look at the superfecta!

Unbelievable. All you had to do was play a $1 superfecta 5/6/All/All for a total risk of $30 to get half of $570 or $285.

That kind of risk should be familiar to all of us here since that's numbers kind of money!

See y'all at the Breeder's Cup in October!

@ Calady & IB and anyone else interested:

By winning six of his seven lifetime races, American Pharoah has now netted his connections more than $3.7 million.

A win in the Belmont Stakes on Saturday earned owner Ahmed Zayat another $800,000.

Ten percent of that payout — $80,000 — would go to jockey Victor Espinoza, who would then give 25 percent of his earnings to his agent and another 5 percent to his assistant on the track.

Wins in the Kentucky Derby ($1.24 million) and the Preakness Stakes ($900,000) netted American's Pharoah's connections a total of $2.14 million. That means a sweep of the Triple Crown would give American Pharoah a lifetime total of more than $4.5 million and a total of $2.94 million for horse racing's grand trifecta.

A win aboard American Pharoah netted Jockey Espinoza $294,000 — pre-tax and before the cut to his agent and assistant — for sweeping the Triple Crown races.

                  I believe Baffert's prize money was $150,000.

However, to their credit both Baffert and Espinoza graciously donated all their prize money to charity. Of course it helps when you are already a multi-millionaire lol.

Owner Ahmed Zayad says that he will race American Pharaoh one more time before retiring him in 2015.

Once he retires, the horse's breeding rights will be valued at "substantially higher" than $20 million
