Hello, valued Washington's Lottery Players' Club member.

In preparation for the possibility a State budget is not enacted by June 30, 2015, Advance Play will not be available for draws on or after July 1, 2015. The number of advance plays will be reduced starting with Powerball (5/27), Mega Millions (5/29), Lotto (6/8), Hit 5 (6/8), Match 4 (6/21), Daily Keno (6/24) and Daily Game (6/24).

If a budget is not enacted, Washington's Lottery will suspend operations. During this timeframe, no Lottery tickets will be sold and no winning tickets will be redeemed until further notice. In the event this situation occurs, there will be additional information provided.

Thanks for your understanding and continued support during this time. If you have any specific questions regarding this potential shutdown, please visit local -snip-

Only in Washington State, shocker.  I also have yet to find any clerk that can give me an advance ticket for anything, either dont know how or are too lazy.  One clerk told me it wasnt offered in Washington State.

Well WA State is broke and local congress is held by democrats that can't seem to stop spending and alot more.. This is why they are adding tolls on  I-405 and charging The toll rate varies between 75 cents and $10 based on how many drivers choose to use express toll lanes. Rates increase as more drivers choose the lanes to manage lane volume and keep traffic moving at 45 miles an hour or faster. Tolls are lowered when traffic is lighter to encourage drivers to move from regular lanes to express lanes.

On the average day, peak period tolls are forecasted to vary between 75 cents to $4 per trip depending on time and distance traveled.

How interesting.  Puerto Rico is in extreme debt and they won twice.  I would not be surprised if WA State wins one of the jackpots after this news.

I don't think the state of Washington would seat back and lose these millions of free dollars it gets daily. Where else can the politicians get such easy millions without facing the voters wrath? Lottery players are a resource that must be exploited to the max. True story too.

I went to the Washington lottery website and they hadn't post a notice, it must be something they are only sharing with players' club members.

It wouldn't help directly. Washington has no state income tax.

That would be peculiar if they did--but they have as much chance of winning as anyone else--lol

It wouldn't help directly. Washington has no state income tax.

I was curious as to how they raise revenue and found this--

"Washington is a great example of the need to check all the data. The state primarily funds itself through a 6.5% sales tax that makes up more than 60% of its revenue. Localities add to this, so the sales tax can be as high as 9.5% in some areas. While the state has no corporate income tax, it does have a gross receipts tax, which charges businesses roughly 1% of revenue. This may not sound like much, but if a business is losing money, it still owes the government money at the end of the year, which is not the case with a corporate income tax. Such high sales taxes and property taxes add up. In 2011, the average per-capita state and local tax paid was $4,366, according to the Tax Foundation -- the 12th-highest in the U.S."

Yup, my advance play ran out last night, and I went to re-up today and could only go for 9 advance draws instead of the usual 10... Had to fill out a whole new play slip...

SC didn't pass a budget yet either but they usually get it done.

Improvise- get your tickets from the neighboring States that do have a State lottery. Folks in Wyoming & others who were locked out for years found a way.The politicians soon got the message that serious revenue was going out of State.

The players have to chose , which games they like the most. All three neighboring states offer, Mega Million & Powerball. Idaho , pick 3 only. Montana neither pick4 or pick3. Oregon , pick 4 only. Which could turn into a advantage for players. Between Idaho & Oregon, Which every state get the most of Washington lottery players money could easily change to a full service state. They might add the one missing game they need to become a full lottery service state. It can happen.

Michigan shut its lottery down a while back in a budget fight too.  The news is probably on here if you search.
