So today's results were kind of ho-hum right?

07/04/2015; Day: 1,0,6; Night: 5,4,8

Hmm, let's see if we can find anything interesting about those numbers.

I know! Let's search Pi to see if those numbers 1-0-6-5-4-8 are there in order.

Oh look! There they are at the 1011th digit of Pi! 1011 digits? That's almost within the first 1000 digits of Pi! That seems rather unlikely for a 6-digit sequence of numbers, doesn't it? (The actual odds are 1 in 989 - about the same as winning the P3 straight)

Just for fun, copy out the digits of Pi starting with 1-0-6-5-4-8 and going on for 42 more digits. Just for fun, you understand?

Now paste that in here:

106548586327886593615338182796823030195203530

Again, just for fun, let's format those numbers as if they were Pick 3 numbers. So they end up looking like this:

106;548 <- Those are the familiar numbers from today.
586;327
886;593
615;338
182;796
823;030
195;203 <- See anything else that looks familiar?
530;

03/05/2015; Day: 2,1,2; Night: 2,0,3
03/06/2015; Day: 5,3,0; Night: 2,8,1

How nice that those two 6-consecutive-digit sequences from the Pick 3 just happen to appear next to each other at about 1000 digits of Pi. And, further, it's really no big deal that they just happen to line up perfectly so that you can just format them like Pick 3 numbers and they appear exactly as they did in the draws! No problem, right?

I've been at this since the early 90's and I'm flabbergasted. That sequence of coincidences is beyond the beyond. You could fool with this stuff for the next hundred years and never find a better coincidence, certainly not in the first thousand digits of Pi.

Incredible. I wouldn't be more surprised if space aliens came down the chimney and asked for directions to Chicago.

Then I thought, if this happened once, could it possibly have happened twice? So I went looking, at it turns out that something similar has happened a second time.

At the 1654th digit of Pi we find the following digits - 361157. We copy out 68 digits of Pi after that.

36115735255213347574184946843852332390739414333454776241686251898356948556209921922218427255

Now format those in the familiar way so that they look like P3 numbers

xxx;361<- Those are the familiar numbers from June 29th.
157;352
552;133
475;741
849;468
438;523
323;907
394;143
334;547
762;416
862;518
983;569
485;562
099;219
222;184 <-See something that looks familiar?
272;55x

Here is the first pair of numbers.

06/29/2015; Day: 8,9,6; Night: 3,6,1
06/30/2015; Day: 1,5,7; Night: 6,6,3

Here is the second pair of numbers.

05/07/2015; Day: 1,4,6; Night: 4,2,7
05/08/2015; Day: 2,5,5; Night: 0,5,4

Aw man, they don't line up perfectly like the other ones did? Too bad, but the fact remains that a pair of 6-consecutive digits numbers from the P3 happened very close together in the first 1700 digits of Pi.

Remember the rule. Crazy coincidences in the Pick 3 come in threes. We've had  one and two. My rule is to hit the third one, then quit. Now my job is to figure out how to track this and find the third occurrence.

Not tooting my horn here but box 4 has had quite a run.

There has been 11 hits in a row from this box.

Just something to keep in mind.

Hope that by saying something hasn't jinxed the trend.

Guess I jinxed the trend.
