Mass-Cash Like Game Coming to Pa ...Prev TopicNext Topic
-
Well not really, but I wish it would. I sent an e-mail message to the PA Lottery this morning about giving some consideration to a new evening game like the Mass-Cash game. Odds would be better than the Cash 5 game and a chance to win $100,000 on more than one ticket with no splitting among winners ... unless there would be more than 10 winning tickets.
Message that I sent earlier today ... if anyone else shares my thoughts, maybe send a mention for a game like Mass-Cash to the Lottery. I may be the only one in the whole state who would like a game like this. If I lived close to MA, I probably would drive over to play their game if northern PA and MA were close.
PA Lottery
I have been following the Mass-Cash game in MA. I have never been happy with you changing the Cash 5 game from 39 numbers to 43 numbers many years ago. Because of that change, I don't play that game all that often, so you get very little money from me.
The Mass-Cash game has 35 numbers and the top prize is always $100,000 but a person can play their numbers or buy 2 or 3 tickets and hit $100,000 on each ticket. The odds are as follows:
Match Probability Top Prize
All 5 1 in 324,632 $100,000
4 of 5 1 in 2,164.21 $250
3 of 5 1 in 74.63 $10
This game as an evening game would get money from me ... I would like bouncing balls to be seen nightly and not digital. If you look below you will see that Judie Devine won $200,000 on May 01, 2015 and May 05, 2015 ... there are some nights with no $100,000 winners and they limit the total one time payout to $1 million each day ... so someone could play 2, 3 or 4 tickets and win $100,000 to $400,000 or more. There are other people that have hit with 2 tickets. So if there are 3 or 6 winners, everyone gets $100,000 and no prize money being split.
With proper marketing ... I really think a type of game like this could be a money maker and very popular over time. I would play it more than the Cash 5 game, playing 2 or 3 tickets every night for $200,000 or $300,000.
However, it must be an evening game and "bouncing balls" ... not an afternoon digital drawing. Check MA out ... I have given up on large games with monster odds ... I would gladly play for a chance to win $100,000 and more with not having to split the jackpot with other winners ... unless there would be more than 10 winners that night. That doesn't seem to happen in MA ... I see mostly $100,000 winners and some $200,000 winners.
Please give serious consideration to a game set up like this ... I read where people in NY playing Take 5 would perhaps have an interest in a game like Mass-Cash also and I'm sure there must be people living near the border actually playing the game.
Judie Devine winning $200,000 twice in a week.
5/6/2015 $100,000 Joey Ramroop Peabody MA Brookside Liquor Lynn
5/6/2015 $100,000 Odell Farrow Jr Mattapan MA Convenience Food Norwood
5/5/2015 $100,000 Judie Devine North Attleboro MA Attleboro Convenience Attleboro
5/5/2015 $100,000 Judie Devine North Attleboro MA Attleboro Convenience Attleboro
5/3/2015 $100,000 Joel Giguere Pittsfield MA Palmer's Variety Pittsfield QP
5/2/2015 $100,000 Paul Bacon Amherst MA Neighbor Food Dairy Mart Amherst QP
5/1/2015 $100,000 Judie Devine North Attleboro MA Attleboro Convenience Attleboro
5/1/2015 $100,000 Judie Devine North Attleboro MA Attleboro Convenience Attleborosigned ...
Well maybe it can't hurt ... I know the game would get most of my lottery money....

I've often wondered what it is that influences decisions the most on what games (both online and scratch off) lottery officials decide to offer.
IMHO, Mass Cash would work in PA. If it's the population of the state they use, then PA could definitely support a game such as Mass Cash. PA is 6th in population with 12.7 million. Mass is 14th with 6.5 million.
I know that changing a product that's been successful can backfire badly, so that may be why states are reluctant to retire one game in favor of another.
I've also wondered if it's a matter of legislation. Do states have laws that they've passed that prevent them from doing anything with lottery games? Is that even possible??
Play Smart!

G5 ... I didn't want the Lottery to retire or get rid of the Cash 5 game ... just add a new game like Mass-Cash. It would only take a a few seconds to draw the numbers at 7PM along with all the other games ... the Pick 5 game is like one second (so it seems) to draw all 5 numbers.
Also they could just have the drawing later at 10 pm or something ... but it would be nice to see it live at 7 pm.
I have never played the Pick 2 game yet ... but maybe they are making money with that game. I would rather put my dollars on a chance to win $100,000 or more every night.
The Cash 5 game is different ... it is a growing jackpot game and has to be shared among total winners, if that happens ... where with a Mass-Cash like game, everyone gets $100,000, up to 10 winning tickets ... since the limit is $1 million in total prizes per day.
So someone with a favorite set of five numbers ... buying five tickets would get $500,000, if they got lucky that night. I haven't gone back looking at all the Mass-Cash results for past years to see if anyone ever had 10 winning tickets on one drawing. Two tickets is the most I have seen so far on any night.
Just have to hope ... if I could do "warp speed", I could get to MA in a few seconds, buy my tickets and return to PA.

Nice conveyance of consideration you wrote up! The flipside to anytime a jackpot increases is... more revenue. PA would want to see the revenue on a sustained jackpot payout...
I've won various times on the 2nd tier of 250$ up to $ 380via qp, so for a buck its okay:)
Does The mass cash have a flexible 2nd tier payout?
On a sidenote PA is looking into a tic tac dough style game all qp generated .... and its payouts are poor in my book... can barely understand why they are shoving these new games when a person should maintain a limited budget on what they invest in.
Count your smiles.

GameGrl ... Thanks, I was hoping the PA Lottery might kick the idea around. I should have made it more clear that I didn't want the Cash 5 game to be replaced or go away. I think the Pick 2 game is silly, playing dollars for so little return ... $50 top prize. I rather put those dollars on a game like Mass-Cash. I could do a lot more with $100,000 than $50.
I just would like a decent jackpot game with good odds that only cost $1.00 ... I'm tired of all these $2.00 ticket prices. I lose twice on those games ... first, I mostly never win anything and second, I had to pump out the extra dollar. I have pretty much walked away from $2.00 tickets.
I still play the Match 6 for $2 ... it seems like a "bargain" with three sets of numbers ... but usually don't win on that anymore.
As a side note ... this has never happened to me before till last night. I had four Match 6 tickets for last night. As you know there are three sets of numbers on a $2 ticket ... 18 numbers total, so four tickets would be 72 total numbers. I did not have one number anywhere from the six numbers that were drawn. I usually have a few numbers scattered around.
You are probably correct about a game with a growing jackpot being more appealing to the Lottery. The Cash 5 game used to have 39 numbers (years ago) and the odds were much better of course and the jackpot would sometimes even get to a million dollars ... then they changed the game to 43 numbers, the odds got worse but people still seem to hit the Cash 5 on a regular basis.
I would like a game like Mass-Cash ... I would probably play 2 sets of numbers with 2 or 3 tickets each ... going for $200,000 or $300,000. It has an appeal to me ... sure, I would rather win $150 million but I have thrown in the towel on those big games.
I'm not sure about the 2nd tier prize ... it's only $250 and I'm guessing everyone gets $250 ... if I understand your question. I only read that the top prize can be less if there are a lot of winners that night ... I think more than 10 ... $1 million total seems to be the limit for a daily top prize payout.
I have not heard of this new game you mentioned ... my first question, is it a $2 ticket price?
It doesn't sound very interesting and you say the payouts are poor. Do you have more info ... when does it start ... is it a daily game?
I hold out very little hope for a Mass-Cash like game in PA ... but then years ago I wanted the PA Raffle game to be 4 times a year and now it is ... the best odds going for any lottery game ... we just have to hope they sell enough tickets ... at least 300,000 ... to cover all the prizes and make a small profit. I bought a raffle ticket yesterday and it was around # 65,000 ... if they can sell 100,000 tickets in Sep and at least 200,000 tickets in Oct (or more) they make money and the players get even better odds to win some money.
I hope the raffle game doesn't go away ... it's the only real bargain in PA for a chance to win $1 million or $100,000 with odds of 1 in 125,000 or better ... depending on total tickets sold. Even the simple Treasure Hunt game with only 30 numbers has worse odds than the raffle game ... and it never pays $1 million dollars.
Speaking of the Mass-Cash game ... I found something out a few days ago about this game. Some of you probably read under the Pick 5 forum that GiveFive drove to MA to buy some Mass-Cash tickets ... I was curious how far in advance a person can buy those tickets ... a person can play up to 30 days in advance on that game. Daily games in PA are only 7 days but someone close to the MA border could play, only making the trip once a month ... that's good.

Crazy wombat- THe PA Game that I spoke of is in Testing mode for consideration. They used a thrid party Testing Group to get feedback on play and on software.
The way I understand it is: THe ticket is bought thru the Online machines , and they cost a dollar per play You instantly know if you won, The lay out is:
The ticket prints with the Three numbers (Example: 321 ) -
The Tic tac dough box is filled with various numbers ( Zero thru 9 or same numbers in different spots.)
If you can get three in a line, you win (Left to right) Straight, across, or diagonal. If they are doubles on the ticket - Lets say you have 233 going down and 332 Going across, you win double the value. I think the wins are 100$ ....Don't quote me on that, since they haven't determined the matrix pay out. I just recall the ppl in the group being tested and None of us cared for it, yet the So Called "UNBIAS" instructor insisted this game was such fun with lots of wins! Yet I'll be darned when I tried, I didn't get anything... Even if you have digits (321), and on the ticket they are left to right ( 132) You win nothing....
Agree with you on Match 6, does seem a value to attempt. Funny story- One day I picked my own numbers, and played them. That evening I thought, ohh what the hey, I'll go get a qp too...so I did. On the very first line were my numbers that I had strategically chosen earlier (LOL!), Just goes to show that even if ya think you have a unique way to pick numbers, so too does the machine.
Good Luck Wombat on your endeavor to have PA consider the new MASS Cash game! I for one think its worth it:)
Count your smiles.

GameGrl ... that game sure doesn't sound interesting to me ... so you stand all day at the self-terminal ... feeding money into the terminal to maybe win $100 ... sounds almost like a Keno type game. They won't get a dollar from me.
The raffle game is still the better deal.
I am working on another way (angle) to play the Mass-Cash game ... the PA Lottery probably won't really consider the game so I sent some e-mails to the MA Lottery a few weeks ago. Since they already have a subscription service for their Megabucks Doubler game ... why not the Mass-Cash game ?
I got this e-mail back from them last week:
Thank you for playing our Megabucks Doubler game and your ringing endorsement of our very popular Mass Cash game and its one-time jackpot payment of $100,000.
To that end, I am sorry to disappoint you but the Mass State Lottery no longer offers a season ticket for our Mass Cash game. When we went to a seven day draw schedule in June of 2011 we discontinued the subscription option as our player research indicated that the $365.00 cost of an annual subscription would not be supported by enough of our players.----------------------------------------------------------------------
So at one time the Mass-Cash game maybe was a subscription game? They offer a 3 month, 6 month and a year subscription with the Megabucks Doubler. I agree that a one year subscription ($365) is a lot of money but a 3 month subscription ($90) would work for me and you could change your numbers every 3 months.
I sent an e-mail back yesterday asking that this idea be brought up for discussion in a meeting ... have a "trial run" for a year or two ... see how many people from "out of state" would play the game. It could be a winner for the MA Lottery with 3 month subscriptions.
As I said in my e-mail to MA ... lottery money is lottery money, no matter where it comes from.
I need some help here ... if other players share an interest in the Mass-Cash game ... send e-mails, do phone calls or whatever to both the PA Lottery and MA Lottery. Maybe we can get lucky and get one of the Lotteries to consider the request.
