A post from the Hoosier Lottery on Facebook:

We are excited to bring a new Hoosier Lotto to Indiana that includes bigger jackpots, built-in multiplier and better odds. With that comes a $2 price point. We’ll have more details in the coming weeks.

Big turn off for me. I simply will not be playing the lottery as much after the change. You know they're trying to pull a fast one when they say "better odds". That's just an outright lie. They will probably lower the odds for a single ticket to something like 1 in 10 million, but at $2, your odds are actually worse because you'll buy half as many tickets, if not less, than you did before. When Powerball was $1 per ticket, I would buy 5 lines with $5. When it went to $2 per ticket, I decided that when I would play Powerball, I would only buy 2 lines for $4 because I do not like spending more than $5 per drawing.

I had been playing Indiana lottery games for a while but stopped last month because no matter what I NEVER WON ANYTHING worthwhile. I am convinced that the Hoosier lottery's computerized draw games are totally rigged and I have read many other people on this site say the same thing. I have had better "luck" in Illinois and Missouri.

Yeah. Unfortunately, Indiana is going the way of most lotteries today. They are trying to increase revenue, and that is the only way to do it, outside of creating more games to play. Texas has way too many games right now, so the money that is brought in is just spread out. And every new game Texas has introduced is $2.

I don't like Indiana at ALL.

I hated it when I had to drive through it like 3 times so far.

It's boring, it does get overcast.  Ohio, is the same, but for some reason, I don't dislike it as badly.
I don't know why that is.

One time, I wanted to stop in Indiana for a hotel for the night, on one of those trips, and I was made to feel like they didn't care to help me at all. Tired as hell, I didn't give in, I said well I'll find a place, I guess, and headed down the road to the first truck stop.  I was not in a truck on this trip, but it doesn't matter. You can stop there for anything, even showers (at most truck stops). Not to mention food, some have buffets that rival some buffets at casinos for less $. But most t/s have decent diners.

So, stick with truck stops on your way through Indiana, but sorry to hear about the disappointment in lotto there, otherwise, yes, they also sell lotto.

        • Don't chase the numbers you play.
        • Play only numbers you've already played, plus however many random picks.
        • But, ALWAYS the regular numbers you play.  This will make you a winner, not a chaser.
(so far, though, I've yet to win any significant lotto prize)

Ouch! I felt bad that Hoosier Lotto going to $2 per play.

I hope that one $2 ticket is the only one that matches all 5 numbers plus the Powerball to win the largest Powerball Jackpot in United States history of over $2 Billion Dollars!

That could be true, "better odds", doesn't mean the jackpot will be easier to win but in most cases the overall odds are better which means the lower prizes are easier to win.  Most players are willing to play more often if they win a dollar or two once in a while.

Ohio recently added a $2 game "lucky for life", a 5/48+1/18 game with overall odds of 1:7.7 and a fixed jackpot $1000 a week for life or $5.75M cash.  The odds of winning the jackpot are 1:30,821,472.   They still have their $1 "Classic Lotto", a 6/49 game with overall odds of 1:54 and jackpot with odds of 1:13.9M.

I was right. Picked up a new playslip today, and the new game will be Pick 6/46 with an addon game called PLUS. PLUS is an extra $1 per board.
