Before we start.
We would like to establish a challenge posting format for the posted number we collected.
First, any member that posted more than the allowed amount of numbers in each game type has had their excess numbers dropped from the data collection.
Example, if someone posted 14 numbers in the Pick 5 part for Mega Millions, the 14th number is dropped from the analysis, because, only 13 picks are allowed.
Second, quick picks and other play line combinations were reformatted to fit the single list of allowed challenge picks; any excess was dropped.
The analysis is based on the question of 'how far away are we from the actual drawn numbers?'.
We used a ± Δ or difference from the drawn numbers to find the closest number to a difference of 0.
A difference of 0 means a number hit; anything else is either above or below the drawn number.
Example, if one of the drawn numbers is 10 and we selected 4, 11, 20; then 11 would be the closest number and would be (11 - 10), or +1.
Also, if one of the drawn numbers is 5 and we selected 3, 7, 12; then both 3 and 7 are the closest and would be (3 - 5), (7 - 5), or -2 and +2.
Next we will post the Mega Millions analysis, month-by-month.
