TimeLine: June 1, 1813 in the  War of 1812

The mortally wounded hero commander of the USS Chesapeake, Captain James Lawrence gave his final famous order: "Don't give up the ship!" during a fierce losing battle with the British frigate HMS Shannon

Cost= 252 me killed  or wounded- 88 were American Sailors  :-(
