No I haven't. The only lottery movie I have seen that comes to mind is the one with Nicholas Cage, a cop who splits his winnings with a waitress.

If his aunt had not become so excited and "had to tell somebody" he would have had an easier weekend.  Smile

Just read a book called Lottery where a winner described as "slow" won a lottery and had to fend off greedy relatives.

I think the movie "Lottery Ticket" is based on fiction.

If I remember correctly, after the long weekend and fighting to hold on to the ticket, he makes it to the lottery office and is awarded his prize.

He does share with the church and uses some of the money to fix up his neighborhood.

That movie is based on a true story. I believe the waitress died from a fall or something like that? I remember hearing about it on the local news in The Bronx one evening. Her character in the movie was a royal pain and it is said that she was like that in real life. Karma snatched her up, I guess...

I am a $20,000 winner from a Georgia Lottery scratch off game called "$3,000,000 Taxes Paid"!

I'm sorry---- not the waitress, but the police officer's wife! Rosie Perez played the role. I get annoyed with any of the roles Rosie plays because I don't like the way she talks. It seems like she could change her dialec for the role she plays but she doesn't and I find it annoying for some reason *shrug*.... Anyway, she did not want her husband to split it with the waitress at all--- from what folks on the streets of the Bronx say. She wanted to get HER part and then let him split it with the waitress. Ofcourse they ended up getting a divorce anyway...

Personally : l don't think any of these lottery movies can hold a candle to " Waking Ned Devine." That movie had everything. People coming together, a mean Ol sulking Bit**, a happy ending. All fiction but a enduring classic.

                          IMHO.

People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it- George Bernard Shaw.

                            IMHO.

When best friends Jackie O'Shea (Ian Bannen) and Michael O'Sullivan (David Kelly) discover someone in their small Irish village has won the lottery, they immediately set off to see if the winner is in a sharing mood. Deducing that Ned Devine is the lucky man, O'Shea and O'Sullivan pay him a visit, only to find him dead from shock. Since Devine is the only one who can claim the prize, the townsfolk band together to convince the claim inspector that O'Sullivan is really Devine, and split the cash.
