Everybody has noticed that certain numbers seem to be "seasonal" or maybe are just more likely to fall the month they were born or near the holidays and so on. I had a feeling about the September numbers, so I compiled them from all the states (my data isn't 100% complete, but it's pretty close). It's a *lot* of numbers, but after counting and sorting I have my answer.

It turns out that The Mother of all September Numbers is 513! I've attached the entire chart below so you can search for your favorite numbers or use it to filter a list of numbers or whatever.

ALL - STATES SEPTEMBER NUMBER FREQUENCY

Love the research you do with patterns!

Love the research you do with patterns!

It includes all the data for all the states for which I was able to independently obtain pick 3 lottery data (ie not from this site, because I am not a paying member), plus Ontario, Quebec, Western Canada, and Puerto Rico. That means Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Québec, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont (Tri-States), Washington, Western Canada, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. In a couple cases, the publicly available data was not comprehensive, but in many cases I have far more years of data than is available on this site, all of which is included in the report in this thread.

So the answer to your question about what years is - As many years as I have. In some cases, that's a lot of years, which means a huge amount of data. That's why I was so surprised that there was such a clear winner, 513. I expected with that much data that things would have smoothed out, but I was wrong. That's why I like getting my hands dirty with real data.

Love it! Thanks for the info on where the stats come from....this WILL be interesting!

000 is up there....something for all states to be on the lookout for, and I generally don't play trips, as it's only 1% of possible combos!

I agree! At the end of September, we will actually have a little case study of which strategy is better, Momentum Players - who play the hot numbers or Contrarians - who play the cold numbers on the theory that they are "due" or "overdue." It'll be fun to see which strategy wins...

I agree! I've always played the cold, but that hasn't really worked as I'd hoped, so definitely keeping an eye on your research! If it's hot , it's hot! lol

Trips are a thing all unto themselves. I've been waiting since May for a trip to break out in the All States Seven Day Workup and it hasn't happened yet. Secretly, I'm sort of afraid that 666 will break out and scare everybody (including me) to death, so let's be careful what we wish for...

666 is the number for carbon...we'd have to be afraid of ourselves....(maybe that's where it came from)

                  6 protons

                  6 neutrons

                  6 electrons

Speaking of creepy stuff, after all this, I just checked in on sully16's State of the Day Challenge thread and guess what the winning number was in the state of the day (Minnesota)? 513Thud

                        WOW! Lurking

Those of you who took my advice and added the RegEx extension to the Chrome browser can do a cool, cool little science experiment! Here are the results of the all-states day drawings in the format that RegEx likes -

                              000|009|009|061|062|142|185|193|215|245|250|294|302|308|375|394|425|532|536|552|637|644|842|852|889|912|926|929|958|967

Just cut and paste that into the little blue box Re in the upper right-hand corner of your window and you will see for yourself why I am in the camp of folks who believe in playing the hot numbers. The hot numbers are running and the cold numbers are just that - cold. It's funny. I know the maths folks would scream to read my generalization but it really is funny how small groups of numbers behave. Eventually the laws of large numbers will take over, but my idea is to take the money and run before that happens. I can do that because I'm not a mathematician. <wink><wink>
