I was told at the claims office that each win is a separate payout....so if you get $500 two times for a total win of $1000 you will not pay any taxes on it...it's only on a single win of over $600 for a single payout on a winning card or ticket.

When I won $1000 on a scratch card I did pay taxes but if I had won $500 on 2 separate cards for a win of $1000 I would not have had to pay any taxes.

I know a man who lives here who gets wins of $500 on exact p3 tickets every now & then & he goes from store to store to cash his $500 wins because most stores won't pay more than that at a time...you can ask Jordan about that...but if he took all of them to the claims office he still would not pay any taxes because as I said each win is a separate payout.

The time has lapsed to edit and add this to the above post but I just called the claims office here to be sure I was correct about what I just posted & was told I was...so if you win on several dollar p3 tickets and win $500 on each one then each ticket is a separate payout as I said & you will not have to pay taxes on any of those wins.

Thanks for the pre-draw list Vergie6 ... all but 2 of the numbers I was playing fell in pre-draws in September. That's why I threw in the towel. 322, 323, 422, 336, 333, 712( all of those fell in pre-draws )

Just confirmed everything I believe. I would have been happy just to get 223 EXACT but it's been over 4 years since it hit in that order so why waste money on something that may not happen for another 4 years ? Every state in the country has gotten 911 but NC and 115 hasn't been out all year either. We've gotten 226 6 times this year ( 3 times in the last couple of weeks )  It's just ridiculous.

Anyway, thanks for the list. And good luck to all of you. I hope you get whatever number it is you're trying to get. I know this is the Pick 3 forum but did you get the pre-draw list for the Pick 4, Vergie ?

I'd like to see how many quads and double doubles I missed in the Pick 4 too. Thanks.

          You're welcome!

I was thinking maybe everybody was so discouraged that they didn't care about it any longer!

Oh & yes I did get the p4 pre-draws list...was thinking I would post it a little later on on one of the p4 threads.

There were no quads on the list...didn't check for the double doubles.

Well, I can't speak for everyone but I was already discouraged --that's why I decided to save my money and not play-- but it was nice to see that I was playing the right numbers and would have won had it not been for 3 pre-draws everyday. I'm sure when they finally do drop the green ball, it won't be any number anyone will be playing. We know NCEL better than that. By the way, I find it hard to believe that if you buy a $1 exact ticket and win $500 that would double to $1000 should the green ball appear, that you wouldn't have to pay taxes on it. I mean it is a single ticket .. why would it be considered 2 separate payouts ? Just curious ... all my customers are playing 50 cent tickets at night. There's obviously a lot of confusion.

The Green Ball is back – and, this time, it’s for double the prizes.

From Oct. 2 through Oct. 29, Pick 3 players have the chance to win double cash every night of the week in the Pick 3 Prize Doubler promotion.

After the nightly Pick 3 drawing at 11:22 p.m., we’ll hold the Pick 3 Doubler Drawing. Every player with a valid ticket for that evening’s Pick 3 drawing is eligible for double the normal prize at no additional cost.

The promotion starts with six white balls and one Green Ball loaded into a draw machine. When the Green Ball is drawn, players with winning tickets for the draw win double the normal prize, and all of the balls go back into the draw machine for the next drawing.

If a white ball comes up, the ball is removed, and odds of the Green Ball being drawn improve for the next Prize Doubler Draw. This continues each night until the Green Ball is drawn. It means a Green Ball will be chosen at least once every seven days – and has a chance to be drawn every night!

Regular Pick 3 players know that, depending on the play type, matching all three numbers is normally worth between $40 and $500. If the Green Ball appears, winning combinations are worth between $80 and $1,000. Prizes of $600 or more must be claimed at one of the lottery's six regional claims centers.

We’ll double your green when we draw green. Ready to play? Skeptical

When you play 223 exact for $1 tonight & the green ball is drawn... You will win $1000 & you will have to pay taxes on that $1000. So as Mistercash said it's best to play your exact plays at night for .50 so you will win $500 when the green ball is drawn.

                  Continued Winnings players-

If you click on the green ball promotion at NCEL home page, it takes you to the luckezone, where that question is addressed, yes a doubled prize equalling $600 or more IS taxable.....

That is what I said...$600 or more is taxable but each $500 win is not...each win is a separate payout no matter how many $500 tickets you have & that is what Mistercash was talking about when I posted back to him about that...I just talked to the claims office here in Greensboro and they told me I was correct.

I think maybe in that case you probably would have to pay taxes on it because that would be considered a single $1000 win when it's doubled because of that promotion.

Maybe that's what Mistercash was talking about in case the green ball happened to come up and you won with a dollar exact win...but don't think he elaborated on it.

WELL I went back and read his post and he surely did elaborate on it...sorry about all of this confusion but anyway maybe it helped someone who didn't know about the regular way the taxes are on normal wins.

Here's his post & he did say with Green Money Ball...so sorry about misunderstanding what I did not see there!!!!!

Next time I will try to read the post better before posting back...lord have mercy I have not had any coffee yet so please forgive me for not seeing the post correctly...maybe posting the pre-draws for p3 & p4 will make up for it to you all!
