During WW11, a Imperial Japanese plane launched from a surfaced submarine off the Oregon coast dropped two incendiary bombs in a failed attempt at lighting a massive fire storm . It was the first deliberate aerial bombing of the US mainland by a foreign power. This second, little know attack since on US Pacific territory after the '41 devastating attack on Pearl Harbor
