We lost a truly unique individualist, anti-hypocritical New York Herald Tribune journalist and author 15 best sellers including Barn Fire of the Vanities, with iconic phrases like the 'The Right Stuff', 'Radical Chic' and 'The Me Decade.'
A singular outspoken talent, unafraid of the maddening crowd; Tom reveled in worlds where people stood tall and acted with bold extravagance and swagger. He often joined the parade himself, author turned celebrity in his exquisite cream colored suit, walking stick in hand.
Wolfe's amazement struck a withering tone in 1970 when he invited himself to tony 2 olive Martini party held for the notorious Black Panthers in the Park Ave Penthouse of no less than NY Met Conductor Leonard Bernstein. Wolf bravely savaged the evening with a portrait of the fashionably ultra liberal crowd engaging with firebrand militants over Manhattans & Martinis and tasty canapes :-)
Personally, I found myself captured alignment with his immortal phrase
"YOU CAN'T GO HOME" which has been quoted in 35 languages because it show the futility of trying to return to a time lost space and place that has changed and more so. we have changed.....
Condolences to family & his many followers
He will be missed by out of the box readers and unconventional free thinkers

Au Revoir, old friend, who is goingHOME!
The like of which we shall sadly, never see again
