Has this happened to you or someone you personally know? I had a winning Lottery ticket and the gas station Lottery Clerk told me it was a losing ticket. I told him off and said,"Don't play with me! I checked my numbers on The Florida Lottery Website and my numbers matched! " He had a look of,", Dang, she's smarter than I thought! " He weakly claimed that he was just joking and paid me my money.-.-

Dateline had a Lottery Scammer Episode where Undercover Dateline Employees handed LC a winning $1,000 scratch off ticket to test their honesty. MOST of the LC were honest and one LC in particular gave really helpful and good advice, something like "You really should sign this ticket and go to The Lottery Office with it." But 7 LC lied and kept the ticket and either claimed it themselves or gave it to a family member/significant other and the FM/so claimed it

The dishonest LC were confronted, arrested,sentenced to 4-6 months in jail and their Lottery Licences were revoked.

The new lottery screens in SC show the customer the amount of the winning ticket when the clerk scans it. I was in a store a couple of days ago and the clerk had the screen turned off. It was black. He scanned the tickets and told the guy how much he had won. I thought that was strange.

Several years ago, a guy, nice, educated Pakistani immigrant, owned a dollar store near me in NY. He was locked up for telling a woman she did not have a winning ticket when in fact it was $100K winner.

There was rumor he was doing it before that, on smaller scratch offs and pick 3 / win 4 etc. lottery tickets. His charm hid his guilt.

These people (creeps) target the immigrant population especially..

ALWAYS ASK FOR YOUR "LOSING" TICKET(S) BACK!!

Joking my a**. Yeah right. That sob was looking to rip you off.

One thing you should ALWAYS do. Before you hand the clerk your ticket, ask him he can cash a $500 or whatever amount winner.

Why? Because once he scans it, it will show up as being paid, and if he doesn't have the cash on hand to pay it, you won't be able to go anywhere else to cash it. And if you go back the next day do you really think him or a different clerk will believe you when you say, you or the other clerk scanned it yesterday but didn't pay me? Fat chance with that. Especially since they already tried to rip you off once before.

You should always know if your ticket is a winner and what it is worth BEFORE you try to cash it. There is no reason for anyone not to. If the scanner isn't working go to another store. That is a dead give away, they're not being honest.

List Pick 3 singles by low sums, high sums. Separate each sum row by consecutive pair and non consecutive pair combos. These 3 pair groups. 14 17 47, 25 28 58, 36 39 69 are in 63 combos. 54 combos do not have them. Which sums do the 3 pair groups appear and not appear? Look at root sum groups 147, 258, 369. Play accordingly.

This happened to me like 11 or 12 years ago. An LC scanned my ticket and then claimed there was a problem with his Lottery Terminal Machine and so I went to the nearest LC who said he couldn't cash an already scanned ticket. I went back to the first LC and told them the other LC wouldn't cash am already scanned ticket and told him to pay me as I didn't want to be stuck with a winning ticket that couldn't be cashed. Who would? Miraculously, his LTM worked and he paid me.

l have heard of those incidences before, but fortunately,it has never happened to me, nor do l see that occurring. Not being a wise***- just that l Know BEFORE entering a convenient store whether l am carrying a winning ticket or not.l tie my own shoelaces, if you get my drift. It is my money, my responsibility to know whether l have won any money or not. Relying on a clerk to do your homework for you, with millions of dollars at stake is foolish. Who does that?

A week ago I won $12 on the Crossword scratch off, and when I brought it back to gas station, she checked on machine like usual, and said it was not a winner.. I wanted to tell her off, but it was not her fault, as she handed me back the printout and gave me the scratch off itself back. So I called and E Mailed the numbers provided and had to fill out this quick form, long story short, the scratch off ticket had a “irregular barcode”, whatever the heck that means, and I was credited the $12.. first time I’ve ever heard of that, but stuff happens, so yeah always ask for the ticket or scratch off back before they throw it away just to be safe. It’s how they scam the elderly unfortunately, but this country is not perfect :)))

That hasn't been my experience. My biggest winner so far was $400. I tried to cash it at the gas station where I'd bought it, and when they scanned it, they told me they couldn't cash anything over $100, and that I should try at the grocery store down the street. That worked, no problem. (I would guess that the gas station was registered with the lottery as having a $100 limit, so it wasn't marked as paid.)

Report it to the Florida lottery (by phone or email). This puts that store on the radar for one of the lottery security sting operations. Periodically the Florida Lottery will post a press release about security checks and the stores that they arrested clerks at.
