I was sitting back thinking about the chances that I have ever held the winning numbers to the Powerball or the Mega Millions. Or even the local Fantasy Five or Lotto 47 (Michigan). What I mean by this is, every drawing I buy 5 easy picks, I wonder if any of those easy pick combinations that I once had weeks, months, or years ago, have ever came out. Just a thought of the day, something that been on my mind for a little.

If you still have the old tickets, you could use the lottery's number checker to find out.

Have your numbers won?

Are you holding a winning ticket, or have your favorite numbers won in the past five years? Enter your numbers and a date range to see if those numbers have been drawn. Only number combinations that would have won a prize will be shown.

Mega Millions lets you check up to five years.

To be honest mc48124- you don't want to find out. If for some reason you had a $200Mil lottery ticket 3 months before the drawing or 2 months after,and threw it away, you will be miserable for not days, or weeks, but years, even taking that memory to the grave!

Everyone picks the right numbers every time. The problem is the lottery doesn't always agree.

It all depends on where you bought the ticket. New Mexico is the only one with a 90 day limit.

HOW TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZE

Sign the back of your ticket and take it to an authorized lottery sales agent for validation. If you win a prize greater than $599, you may need to complete a claim form and send it to the state's lottery commission.

I want to win on the tickets I buy for that days drawing such as QP's but I am not concerned with the what if's about having numbers that could be winners some other time.-weshar75

If you picked numbers (self or QP) for a drawing different from the one you purchased, then... so what?

Some people have numbers that they play for every drawing. If you buy five QP, then to replicate that you would have to fill out a play slip with those numbers for every future drawing until the day you die.

It's not going to increase your chances of winning, so why worry about it?

You are correct Curious22. What l forgot to add was “ if you played the same numbers for 3 months prior to the drawing or had the winning numbers months after the draw.” I looked up the time l posted that, and that was about the time l was on my 2nd glass of wine.

It should depend on how many tickets you bought and the percentage of those tickets against all possible combinations. While the chances of buying tickets that match one of many drawings is better than only one drawing, it's still a long shot. And it's also a reason to play QPs rather than self picks; we can throw away losing QPs and never know if that combo is drawn a year from now. Can't say the same after finding out the same combo we played for years and then stopped playing them are drawn two draws later.
