  "Winning" implies a net gain in money. So if you win a bet, you're coming out of the bet with more money than you went into that bet with, regardless of the details. -20,000 means that you would have to bet $20,000 to win $1. So if you won the bet, you'd leave with $20,001. If you lost, you would be out $20,000.
