  This morning in a NJ Lottery Commission Meeting, NJ Lottery Executive Director James Carey announced that the Lottery will begin setting up its draw games with a random number generator as a backup system in the event of an emergency.

  Currently, the NJ Lottery uses traditional ball drawings for all of its primary draw games – Pick 3, Pick 4, Jersey Cash 5, Pick 6, and Cash4Life, along with multi-state games Powerball and Mega Millions. The Lottery does not plan on moving away from traditional drawings anytime in the future, rather Carey emphasized that it was only to be used as a backup in the event of an unforeseen emergency.

  “I think that the last six months have really shown what ‘unforeseen’ conveys,” he said in the meeting.
