Hi Everyone;
I am trying to figure a way to produce the odds for wheeled combinations and not sure how to do it (I am not a math genius) and was wondering if anyone has done this before etc... my efforts searching the forums have not so far been productive. I have found the Odds Calculator here on the site and this works well but I am looking for more etc..
About 30 years ago I bought a little kit for lotto play and inside it, there was a simple chart...
What I want to do is make a spreadsheet for myself to calculate the odds (similar to as displayed) where I can enter the variables and get the odds.... for example... enter "N Number of balls in Lottery" (49), "K Numbers Played" (6), and "B Number of Winners drawn" (6), and have it pump out 13,983,816.00 as the result. (I guess what I want to do is expand the chart to include the bonus numbers AND to be able to add more numbers played options)
Now I figured out the equation for the standard which is column one above.
=1/((COMBIN(K,B))*(COMBIN((N-K),(K-B)))/COMBIN(N,K)) which I guess can be done using the FACT function as well..
I also note that the chart lacks the Bonus ball option. I would like to be able to calculate the odds of 6 balls drawn from one tumbler/drum containing numbers between 1 and 49, plus 1 bonus ball drawn from the same tumbler/drum.
Anyway, without rambling on, I think I got the essence of what I am looking for. Hope I have not violated any forum rules or stepped on toes...
Happy New Year!
