Tell me about the seediest lotto joint you've ever been in! What'd it look like in there?

I'll start. I went into a lotto joint in Brooklyn New York. First thing I noticed was the very LOUD Latino music they were playing. It was so loud I couldn't hear myself think. But it was that bullet proof glass room the clerks were sitting in that really told me something! It looked just like the lobby of a bank where all the bank tellers sit at their window.

The clerk slid out the metal drawer, I put my bet slip and money in it, and he pulled the tray back. He then pushed the tray back to me with my ticket and bet slip in it.

I dunno if those guys even spoke English because nobody said anything to anybody. Nobody could've heard a spoken word over that loud music anyway... G5

As far as I know there aren't any shops like that in north Texas. But, you can buy a lottery ticket just about anywhere.

Several years ago I thought about opening a lottery shop, but, lack of startup funds and the fact you can buy tickets at c-stores all over made me keep rethinking that idea.

There is a place in north Austin called Winners Corner that sells a crap ton of lottery tix, scratch and draw, and they have a lot of winners. The vast majority of the draw tix they sell that are jackpot winners are self picks. I think Winners Corner is a franchise that has locations around the country and their headquarters is in NY city.

Interestingly, when we were staying in Houston a couple years ago, it was a little harder to find places that sold lottery tix. Most c-stores didn't and I had to go to a Kroger store down the street from the hotel.

So you've got nuthin' but classy lotto joints in Texas!! Not too shabby!

Here in Florida the vast majority of lotto retailers are nice supermarkets and c-stores. Cant find 'em down here like they got 'em in Brooklyn. G5

Usually the shops that are the most suspect are the mom and pop or small business owned stores. I might buy my tickets there but when it comes to cashing them I goto a Wal-Mart. Why a Wal-Mart? Alot of the time Wal-Marts have a small bank in them, another store in other areas may have a similar set up. This is so I can cash the tickets with the store and immediately goto the bank in the store to deposit the winnings into an account I only use for lottery. That way you are on a camera from the time you cash out til you deposit. Much less a chance of being robbed or cheated in that type of environment.

I was in a sleazy joint in Kintucky one time where I saw a lazy no-count rootin' through the garbage can for used scratchers that were all covered in tobaccy spit. I had just commenced spittin' my Beech-Nut in there my own self but he didn't care, he was from Kintucky.

Whats a geeky upstate IBM nerd like you doing in Brooklyn? Were you on the corner of Bushwick and Cornelia?

I dont think that was a seedy lotto joint. More likely a seedy weed spot, that had a lotto machine.

They must of upgraded. All of the old ganja spots would be record stores, and they would have like two records on display for sale,

And that latino music? That was probably Mexican music. They bringing in that loco weed from south of the border.

God bless those Mexicans.

As for seedy lotto joints, we are technologically advanced in America, and we can now play online through the interzones, so you safe now from Mexican cartels coming across the border,

But any store where crazed stratcher addicts dwell, dripping their latex fuelled addictions all over the countertop is seedy to me.

In Brooklyn the 'latino' music was more than likely Puerto Rican.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

While I agree that in NY, it most like was Puerto Rican music".. the correct terminology would be "Hispanic" music.. but everybody likes to play the Lottery..!!

Lotteries were started by the "Romans", and not necessarily involved money..

"Latina" is a very broad term that encompasses the description of a lot of different people of different languages and Cultures...usually referring the Countries at certain Tropical "Latitudes", that speak "Spanish, Portuguese"..

While "Latino," refers to Mediterranean people such as Italians, Greeks..who speak "Latin"...and of Roman descent..as in the Pope Francis..

In Delaware there a a couple I go to only when I have to. First is a tiny liquor store that has a couple of really wacked out people behind the counter. One doesn't seem to understand anything you say and repeats it back and you end up asking 5 times for the same thing. The other cant count so they never understand how much change to give you - gotta watch that one. That one also is often smoking outside when you get there, and neither will wear masks (mandatory for in stores in Delaware)

Second one, gas station, is set up like Give 5's story, big wall of clear plastic (not bullet proof and up before covid) in front of 2 machines and a cash register, so you know they were robbed alot. Workers behind also say almost nothing, but its the people that come in that make you think twice about why you stopped here.

Maryland is mostly high end convent stores BUT they often are hard to get any win money from as they say 'oh we can only give you what we have in our cash drawer' (vs going into the vault) for even a $290 hit. I had to come back later when they had more money, so never used them to cash out again. Lucky for me the independent gas station/liquor store near me can pay up to $5000 and ALWAYS has cash!

This geeky upstate nerd has two adult kids that live in Brooklyn that's what! They're nuts if ya ask me... And lemme tell ya, I aint ever long for gettin' outta Brooklyn when/if I go there either. Those two know full well that they gotta come to me... I aint big on goin' to them. the reason why I aint big on Brooklyn is because IBM used to have a manufacturing facility in Brooklyn in the heart of Bedford Stuyvesant. I had to periodically go there on business. I was told NOT to park on the street, but to drive around the back of the building where an armed security guard opened the gate and let me park in a small parking lot. The building was formerly a bank, and the top exec running the place had his office in the vault!! The big round thick door to the vault was still there too!

I dont even know what streets/avenue we were on when we walked past that bodega. It was pre-Covid at the time, and we were walking to the subway to go into Manhattan. Shoulda saved my cash for a lotto joint inside Grand Central Terminal on 42nd street.

My thinking is that the music was Puerto Rican. Mexican music is big on a lot of brass (trumpets) but while the music I heard was definitely Latino because the lyrics were being sung in Spanish, it didn't have any brass. It sounded to me like it had a beat sort of like "The Macarena" but slightly different. G5

There used to be a 7/11 around the corner from me that I got my tix at. Sometimes when they didn't have enough in the register or in the office they would go in the safe. But since it had a time lock, I had to wait 10 or 15 minutes. The people who ran it changed it to a beer/wine con.store. They don't do anywhere near as much business now judging by the # of cars in the parking lot.

There's a family run liquor store that I always go to now. They always can cash them too.

List Pick 3 singles by low sums, high sums. Separate each sum row by consecutive pair and non consecutive pair combos. These 3 pair groups. 14 17 47, 25 28 58, 36 39 69 are in 63 combos. 54 combos do not have them. Which sums do the 3 pair groups appear and not appear? Look at root sum groups 147, 258, 369. Play accordingly.

Interesting comments but I'm pretty sure "lartino" came from Latin America not Europe or the Mediterranean.

When I was at Ft Ord, CA, in the Army, during a race relations class the instructor mentioned "chicanos". One guy in the class said, "In from New Jersey, I've never even heard the term "chicanos" but in Jersey we have Puerto Ricans.
