  Why is Saint Patrick's day so important?
  
  "He returns to Ireland and brings Christianity with him. He is who made the Celts and the Pagans into Christians." Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, the day he is assumed to have died in 461. The holiday originally was tied to religious ideals but now is also a symbol of Irish Pride.

  The most traditional and well known of all the Irish blessings is ‘May the road rise up’. It was written a very long time ago, and is often recited and wedding and special ceremonies and sometimes said as a prayer. It goes as follows:

  May the road rise up to meet you.

  May the wind be always at your back.

  May the sun shine warm upon your face;

  the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

  may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
