Most likely it was straight pool. It's the same game that was played in the Hustler.

Could have been. BTW, that movie is one of my all time favorites.

Newman and Gleason were great.

Sounds like straight pool, which I never played. Most of the guys at the pool hall where I grew up played 8 ball and 9 ball.

One of my favorites too. Makes me think of the late, greats Minnesota Fats and Willie Mosconi.

That's a nice video but I think the creator was going for nostalgia vs Who is/was actually the Best.

Rudolf Wanderone (Minnesota Fats) is listed at #4 Best Pool player EVER and he never won a World title or even any type of Major tournament of any kind. Sure, he was well known but that does not make you the best ever.

While I agree that Efren should be in the talks for that spot, you also have Strickland and Sigel who have a better head to head record against Efren.

With the way the break has been mastered in all the disciplines, the guys coming along today like SVB, Shaw, Gorst, Filler, Ruiz, Biado, Ko etc...are just killers and will replace everyone on that list.
