Hi all - I'm new here, so I will try to follow the rules (no links, etc). I've just written a book about the U.S. Lottery and I think some of you may actually enjoy it. Here's some key bullets:
- There are chapters on game types, odds, organized crime, and customer advocates
- There's a profile and discussion with James Hayes (the "PT Cruiser Bandit") who won $19m in 1998, but ended up broke, addicted, and robbing 11 banks and eventually making his way to America's Most Wanted criminals..and eventually to jail. I spoke with him shortly after his release.
- I profile Kurt Panouses, who is one of the nation's foremost lottery lawyers, representing winners who've won millions (and even billions). He provides good color into the mindset of these newly minted winners and what he does to guide them
- I profile another winner who won $1m per year for life. He still drives a '90s era truck and uses his original flip phone. Fascinating
- I interview the head of the Arizona State Lottery commission.
There's more, but those are some highlights. It's out now and it's called "Winning Numbers: A Deep Dive into the Lottery and Luck" (find on Amazon and all other major book dealers)
Thank you! I don't think I violated any posting rules here, but if I did I apologize. I do think the content in this book is interesting, informative, and, dare I say...fun. So I think a lot of folks here will like it.
Thanks
Jeff
