Coke brought back Classic Coke so why not have Mega Millions bring back the old $1 game once per week.

Would you play?

Though it was $1 a ticket, the 5/56 + 1/46 version of MM paid only $250,000 for matching five numbers. Are you experiencing a shortage of large money jackpot building games in Michigan and need another?

FYI, PB has a Monday drawing and would create a "which game should I play" dilemma but Thursday is open.

We are experiencing a shortage of large winners like we had with the old game.

Many people on here complain about $2 tickets and complain about nobody winning anything and they also complain that they want smaller jackpots and more winners. We had that with the old Mega Millions.

From 2009 until the old version ended on 10/18/2013 there were 172 winners in Michigan including 5 Jackpots

Understand your point. I voted "sometimes" because here in Texas we have the "2-Step" game which starts at $200,000 at waaay better odds, and grows until there's a winner. The one downside to the game is it's pari-mutuel, so there can and often is more than one jackpot winner.

So for me, the old MM game would ok with the megaplier until 2-Step grew above $250K.

The purpose of a large money jackpot building game is to get more people to play and by default will not produce more winners.

Won't comment on what people complain about when it's simple enough to find the odds against winning anything. It's should be obvious when 65% of all MM combinations won't match any of the five numbers or the mega ball. And with a matrix over 300 million and $2 tickets, we shouldn't expect to see jackpots won very often and should expect only one winning ticket.

The MM website says,

"accommodate public demand for more frequent large jackpots and bigger lower-tier prizes, Mega Millions introduced a new matrix on October 28, 2017, with a $2 ticket price and a $40 million starting jackpot. Not only will jackpots roll faster and higher, but the change in the prize structure means that players now have a much better chance than ever before of winning the second-tier prize of $1 million (or up to $5 million with the optional Megaplier)."

It looks like the players got what they asked for.

I understand their point too, but don't see how that could happen on a multi state level because it would compete with other MUSL and state games. There were over 175 million combinations in the old MM game and players asked for larger jackpots.

Our 4/35 + 1/25 has $225,000 jackpot with a decent secondary prize payouts. And we have Lucky for Life that has a nice intermediate jackpot. Ohio has a nice mix of games with something for about everybody.

Agree, there are plenty of games for most players, but some just can't be satisfied.

In August of 2017 a $350M jackpot would have have given the winner $216M before taxes & $162M after taxes in California.

That's $0.46 on the dollar take-home.

On 11/27/2023 the PB jackpot is $352M.... with a cash option of $163M before taxes & about $103M after taxes in California..

That's $0.29 on the dollar take-home.

That's a difference of $53M on the pre-tax & $59M on the post-tax payout... So where the hell is that extra $50M+ going??

MM cash value for Tuesday draw is $175.4 million. That's enough for me. In fact, at my age, $1 million ($630,000 after fed taxes) is enough for me.
