  I'm looking for ideas on how to possibly make these Excel files better and eliminate lottery numbers by positions using the game matrix and the percentages by position.

  The example lottery game is the Cash4Life 5/60. 

  Note: All 3 Excel files contain macros.

  Place your results like this (in no original order, the order doesn't matter):

  ## 🔢 Step 1 — Create sorted columns (ascending)

  Let's create 5 additional columns (F:J) with the same numbers, but **in ascending order**.

  ### If you use modern Excel (Office 365, 2021+):

  In cell **F2**:

  It automatically fills the 5 positions (F2:J2).

  Copy the formula down to the end of the draws.

  ### If your Excel is older (without SORT):

  You can use auxiliary formulas or manually sort the results before copying.

  ## 📊 Step 3 — Counting occurrences by position

  Each column F:J represents a **position** (1st to 5th).

  Let's count how many times each number (1–60) appears in each position.

  Example:

  In cell **M3** (number 1, position 1):

  In **N3** (position 2):

  ```excel =COUNTIF(G:G, L3)

  ```

  In **O3** (position 3):

  ```excel =COUNTIF(H:H, L3)

  ```

  In **P3** (position 4):

  In **Q3** (position 5):

  👉 Copy these formulas down to row 62 (number 60).

  Assume you have 1,000 draws (or the actual number is in cell **B1**).

  In **R3** (percentage position 1):

  ```excel

  And so on for N→S, O→T, P→U, Q→V (5 columns of percentages).

  Tip: format columns R:V as **% with 2 decimal places**.

  ## 🎨 Step 5 — Create a “Heatmap”

  Select the R:V columns and use:

  > **Home → Conditional Formatting → Color Scale (green/yellow/red)**

  🔸 Green = most frequent (hot numbers)
  🔸 Red = least frequent (cold numbers)

  This way you can easily visualize the patterns by position.

  ## 🧠 Step 6 — Using it to choose combinations

  Now that you have the percentages by position:

  1. Identify the **3 hottest numbers by position**:

  * Use `=LARGE($R$3:$R$62;1)` → highest % (position 1)

  * `=LARGE($R$3:$R$62;2)` → second

  * `=LARGE($R$3:$R$62;3)` → third

  Do the same for each position (columns R:V).

  2. Create a **TOP-3 by position** table, and then combine:

  * 1 number from column 1,

  * 1 from column 2,

  * 1 from column 3,

  * 1 from column 4,

  * 1 from column 5.

  → This generates **3⁵ = 243 possible combinations** (before eliminating duplicates).

  3. You can apply **filters**:

  * Avoid repetitions,

  * Limit total sum (e.g., 70–200),

  * Control even/odd numbers (e.g., 2–3),

  * Avoid 3+ consecutive numbers.

  Very well explained videos!

  I see what you are going for and it seems to provide the data as requested when set up for the percent ranges.

  My Cash 4 Life file has all of the draws in ascending order, so the oldest is at the top, that way updates happen at the bottom and I never need to add new rows to update.

  The reason I gravitated towards Python programming in the last few years is because sheets like this are monumental tasks to maintain, particularly if you want to make changes.

  One difference I saw was that you used a 1 when a number was out in the most recent draw. I have a variable that I call "Most Recent Appearance", so for example a 34 was drawn in position 3 last night, on my output, this MRA variable for 34 in position 3 is 0. 

  I tend to focus more on the frequency distribution. I take the total number of draws in the sample and divide by the number of appearances to get the percent of the whole. This puts the percentages in a range. I use what is called inter quartile range to classify each frequency as hot, neutral or cold. Such that from 0% to Q1 is cold, Q1 to Q3 is neutral and Q3 and above are hot. From these classifications, I still list them all, but only select a line from the neutrals, discarding hot and cold as outliers.

  Whatever numbers happen to fall into the targeted frequency distribution on that run become the pool from which I select... and they change with every update of history. This usually eliminates 30% of the numbers by position. Of course any number can still come out whenever, but I had to start somewhere.

  I then sort by frequency descending and simultaneously MRA ascending. This lines up the output high to low, and usually gives 15 or 16 all neutral lines to pick from. From those I will pick one. The last time I had a chance to play, I picked the middle line (the most neutral of the neutrals) and that did not work. If I get the chance to have another go, I will pick the highest all neutral line.

  I mostly play the pick 3, and a win there funds the operation, but even pick 3 wins are hard to come by.

  Great workbooks! A suggestion for you hits and skips workbook, Add last positioned hit for each number. I accomplished this by getting the skips for each number in each position, similar to how you did the percentages. Whatever position has the smallest number is the last hit position.  So at a quick glance 12 was in position 1, etc. it helped me for future picks.

  Hello, Winsum, an idea to reduce the Cash4 Life 5/60 in central trios from 02 to 59: we have 30,856 trios. To hit all 5 numbers in the 5/60, you need 5,461,512. The 30,865 trios represent an 83% reduction from the 5,461,512, maintaining 100% accuracy in the central trios. Of course, many filters are needed to get the 3% to 4% accuracy in the trios. Then you add the front number and the last number, for example: x, 12, 25, 36x. Well, then you can use your study for the central trios: x, 02, ..., 59, x

  hello WINSUM!!!These 144 pairs are the extreme pairs, that is, the 1st and 5th numbers. Of course, we can expand this to up to 30, that is, from 01 to 30 and the last one as well. The 144s are just to show that if you get the pair right, it can give clues to the central trio. For example, 12 xxx 48, the trio can only be from 13 to 47. Note the importance of getting the extreme pair right.
