If a lottery Winner posted their experience with a lawyer. I would definitely listen to what they had to say

Absolutely.....Especially if they won $1 Million - $1 Billion. Never hurts to listen and get a free education.

if they were from my state i'd pay more attention. lottery claiming rules are different in every state and what you are allowed to do in one (like claim via a trust) you can't necessarily do in another. a lot of what they have to say might be totally irrelevant to your sitch.

brah, the most important thing is to act normal so that reputable professionals will work with you. if you act insane, the pool of people willing to deal with you will be small and consist mainly of scammers and opportunists looking to take advantage of the foolio.

Exactly correct.
And I do not represent lottery winners. As many LP members know, Stats has approached me numerous times about representing him if he wins. I turned him down repeatedly and he was angry.
And I practice in DC which is not a small town but Stats thinks DC is a rural county. Again, his processing of simple info shows something is seriously wrong with him.
Attorneys will not represent you if you act insane and unstable and one will have to hire that strip mall immigration attorney who has zero experience in trusts and lottery issues. Do not act like Stats.
Some may recall the crazy woman in 2012 who claimed she won a major jackpot and hid the ticket at McDonald's. Her attorney dropped her very quickly after realizing she was nuts.

Martindale Hubbell attorney info is taken from public sources and is meaningless and many profiles are decades out of date. Ir has your name, bar memberships and areas of practice and a peer rating. After they list you without your consent, they try to sell you an upgraded listing. I have never heard any attorney or firm brag about or mention they are in Martindale Hubbell or needing to update their profile.
It had some limited use in pre online days. Most attorneys say the ROI is not worth it.
Stick with checking out state bar info.
