With New 6/53 Game! Recent Government Gambling Commission
Report Unfavorable To Lotteries
The Florida Lottery has announced they will change their current 6/49 game format to twice weekly play and a new 6/53 game format beginning October 27th.
This new 6/53 game will be played twice weekly on Wednesday and Saturday according to information posted on the official Florida Lottery website. However, the real story here is the poor decision making by the Florida Lottery Commission in raising the number field of the current game.
If you've ever asked yourself the question "Why do different states have different sized lottery games?" the answer is quite simple. The formula, properly applied, to arrive at a number field for a game and game odds is based upon the state's population. Back in 1988 when the Florida lottery began, many serious players were scratching their heads over the state's decision to start with a 6/49 game when the population figures showed a 6/42 as a maximum. Now, there's a great amount of question about the state adopting a 6/53 format.
By way of comparison, California, the heaviest populated state in the nation with current census figures showing 32,666,550 residents has a 6/51 format lottery. Florida's current census figures detail only 14,915,980 souls residing there. Even with the heavy amount of visitors to the state during the winter tourist season one has to wonder about the new 6/53 format with odds higher by almost 5 million to one than the California game.
The 6/53 format game has odds of 22,957,480 to one whereas the California 6/51 pales by comparison at 18,009,460 to one odds. The 6/53 game also represents a major odds increase over the current 6/49 odds of 13,983,816 to one...which will increase by almost 9 million to one with the 6/53 games first draw scheduled for October 27th.
Using the trite cliche of inducing more "rollover" jackpots the Florida Lottery Commission cites the increase in 5/6 payouts under the 6/53 format to be an average of $5000 or about four times the current 6/49 format average of $1300. However, anyone who has played Florida's lottery will easily remember when the game paid well over $5000 for 5/6 in the 6/49 format and prize payouts for 5/6 above $8000 were not at all unusual.
Adding insult to injury the commission has stated they are "also increasing the 4/6 and 3/6 prize monies." The current 4/6 payout averaging $62 will increase to a measley $70 and the $4.50 current average for a 3/6 will increase to a whopping $5.00!
Play the new 6/53 if you will...this writer won't be participating! You can reach the Florida Official Lottery Website from our Results pages with a simple click on the hot link you'll find there. You might like to send them an email on their site and let them know what you think of this new game format! The conclusions drawn by the government's "Gambling Commission" in their published report were about as favorable to lottery players as a ticket containing only one winning number per playing line!
The commission, heavily populated by religious right wingers and casino executives from both Las Vegas and Atlantic City totally discounted the excellent, factual information presented by lotterydom's lone voice on the panel, Georgia Lottery Director Rebecca Paul.
While Paul presented evidence gleaned from several studies by major daily newspapers and others that lotteries were not preying on the poor, under-employed and racial minorities, the commission chose to discount her remarks almost entirely in their final report delivered in June.
The Gambling Commission's conclusions were that the entire nation is full of millions of sick, addicted gamblers and that state lotteries and other forms of gambling should be placed in a moratorium; not allowed to advertise. The report also concluded that politicians should discontinue taking huge political campaign contributions from the casino gambling lobby. The politicians haven't reported back on that issue!
For now, it's safe to say you'll still be able to purchase your favorite lottery games tickets and more of your tax dollars were spent in an effort by government to govern every facet of your daily life. DFA Software Hits In California & Florida!
In late October we received a scanned winning 4 of 5 ticket from John Reika of California who won using our DFA software. John's 4 of 5 winner in the CA 5/39 game paid him $322.00 and he had ALL 5 winners in his DFA number selections and DFA wheel of only 17 tickets...better luck next time John!
Wednesday night, November 10th, we ourselves hit a 4 of 5 winner in the Florida Fantasy 5/26 game, along with four 3 of 5 winning tickets in our 14 ticket DFA number selected wheel. We had ALL 5 winners in the DFA selected numbers too! As this is being written we still don't know what the payout will be, but alas,in Florida it won't be much, but it will more than pay for our ticket costs and show us a small profit!
We have scans of both of these 4 of 5 winning tickets on hand in case anyone doubts DFA produces winners on a regular and consistent basis!
