  I've been neglecting to mention that the next change(s) to Ohio Lotto should include eliminating "Kicker", or allowing customers to play "Kicker" WITHOUT Lotto.

  Just who are you mentioning your concerns to? Are you talking with the Ohio lottery commission? What have their respond been? Do you have any ideas on how to play the lotteries more successful now? It would be nice if all the lotteries had less numbers to pick from, but it ain't going to happen. When you play the Ohio lotteries, how do you pick your numbers?

  I live north of NYC. I am very opinionated when it comes to what lottery games around the country SHOULD or SHOULD NOT be like. This not only covers the cash/annuity issue (thank goodness almost all US jackpot games have a cash option) but also other aspects of what lotto games are like.

  CASH Only, I think what he's trying to say is that being opinionated is great - we all enjoy voicing our opinions, but it's somewhat non-productive to continue voicing the same opinions over and over on a medium that most lottery commissions do not read.

  Jack & Abe: I'm only trying to suggest that since Ohio 6/49 Lotto is no longer the top jackpot game in the Buckeye State (under normal conditions), the Ohio Lottery needs to seriously consider making changes to it. Those wanting to play for the biggest jackpots within Ohio will switch to Mega Millions. Therefore, the 6/49 game doesn't need to be as jackpot-driven (I suggest a 6/48 instead, for example.) The 6/59 Lotto here in New York will also suffer, as well as the Super-6 Lotto in Pennsylvania when the Keystone State joins Powerball in about a month.

  Indeed. I do agree with that. A 6/48 game replacing the current Ohio 6/49 would be nice.. as well as a fix to NY's absurdly impossible to win + low payout 6/59 lotto. Sure, it's not as hard to win as Mega Millions, but the jackpots start insanely low for such odds and don't pay out nearly as much as they should.

  The players Ohio was trying to attract were the ones that headed out of state when the Biggame and Powerball had jackpots of 60M or more. Until MegaMillions have that size jackpot, the 649plus game is going to continue to do sell. I'm sure the MM game is going to have some big jackpots, but when MM's jackpot is 11M with odds of 1:175M and the 649+'s jackpot is 13M with odds of 1:14M, which one are you going to play? Even the cash-value looks better.

  That's why a 3-of-6 match in NY Lotto 6/59 pays YOUR DOLLAR BACK and 4-of-6 Saturday night (5/25) paid $15.00! On two occasions 4-of-6 paid ONLY $13.00! The NY state legislature, while approving NY joining a multi-state game last year (expected to pass even if 9/11 didn't happen), has never allowed the NY Lotto game to return more than 40% in prizes. A 50% prize pool could be used to pay $3 for matching three numbers with the remainder funding larger   4-of-6 prizes (no need to increase the jackpot level thanks to Mega Milions).

  Did you know that the Hoosier Lotto 6/48 game offers a FREE PLAY for matching just 2 numbers?! I don't think Ohio needs to go that far. But a big step would be to pay $3 for a three-number match (3-of-6 in Hoosier Lotto wins $3).

  When Ohio game was a 6/47 lotto, they paid $3 for matching 3. When it became 6/49 game they drop the $3 prize and entered the match 3 tickets in a monthly drawing for $15k to $300k and then when the game changed to 6/49+ they stopped paying for match 3 all together. I assume these changes were made so the state would make more money. I don't see the state going back to the old game unless ticket sales really go down.

  Since Ohio WILL be able to rely on Mega Millions to create huge jackpots, it makes ZERO sense for the in-state game to continue to be as jackpot-driven as when you had your $75 million pot. Paying for a three-number match just makes good sense.
