the bible says that the rain falls on the just and the un-just (that God blesses the righteous as well as the wicked). the bible also describes (in ecclesiastes) how it is God who gives specific talents/abilities to get wealth to every man that "he" desires, including the Godless. obviously the Godless do not give him credit, while "believers" do. God decides the parameters, not us.
for face value it would seem unfair that God would allow someone who was evil or in the case of jack whittaker who was already a millionaire to win the lottery. but he is not. remember that winning the lottery is NOT the answer to life as most people make it out to be. and sometimes for some people it is more of a curse than a blessing. so you see that it does "fit" even when we think it doesn't.
you have to look at the larger picture when considering something like this. what about the flip side to this coin? does God allow adversity as part of his plan in a persons life? what about financial hardship? illness? death? i can tell you for certainty that he does. people love to equate luxury and "ease" with God but reject the notion that hardship is every bit as much an important tool that God uses. i know from personal experience and i would never go back and exchange my life for an easier one. i "see" God in a much clearer fashion than i would have otherwise.
whether i am rich or poor has no bearing on my "wealth" in life. what matters is how i relate to God as he reveals his path for me. as i align myself with that path, he get's the credit that he deserves. since we are all of God's creation, does he loves us more because we live in the good ol' USA instead of some 3rd world country where you eat to survive? nope. does he love someone more because he allows them to win? nope. not if you understand how he works. and winning the lottery is not as important as knowing why he allowed you to in the 1st place.
can you imagine knowing the plan before the plan is implemented? and if you can, what would be more impressive? knowing the plan beforehand or winning the lottery and assigning it to "luck"? knowing beforehand will mean more to me than any amount of money. it sends the message that i know God instead of knowing "about" God. big difference. at the end of my life i would rather brag about how well i knew God and how he works in my life than how much money and things i accrued. besides, things and money have no bearing on the next life. a relationship with God does.
remember pick4 master, i fall into category #2. someday that will be evident. right now - rightfully so, it is just an obscure thought to most. i enjoy the challenge...
