In reviewing many of the recent posts, it seems that regardless of the topic, someone mentions cash or annuity option, and that's followed by a back & forth insult session between AnnuityIsGood and Cash Only, and then the topic dies.

Maybe you guys can go back & forth through Private Messages, rather than bring that argument to every jackpot and scratch game discussion.

    Todd:

Many of my posts have NOTHING to do with cash vs annuity; I would prefer showing everybody on this board my knowledge of lottery games around the US.

It doesn't help that AIG keeps suggesting "choose annuity"- it's not his decision, or mine either. I of course feel that the player should take the cash AND THEN buy an annuity if they really want one.

It would also help if _all_ US lotteries abided by the "60-day" rule in which the cash/annuity choice is made AFTER you win.

Cash, I actually think you've provided a ton of interesting and useful information.  What I'm referring to is the back & forth bickering that has killed off a number of interesting topics.  A quick scan of any of a variety of posts would indicate that you prefer cash option, and he prefers annuity.  No need to debate that any further!

        Todd:

I would welcome an _intelligent_ debate over the cash vs annuity issue.

If someone believes annuity is better because you can't "spend it all in one place", it implies that a lottery winner cannot handle a lump sum of millions of dollars. I consider that a LAME argument in favor of annuity, since many would get financial/legal/tax advice before getting the money.

Someone who sells annuities or works for such a company might be "pushing" annuities even if the player/winner obviously would be better off with the lump sum.

I meant to add in my above post that a few lotteries don't truly respect a player's decision about whether to choose cash or annuity.

Agreed on all points, except that I respect the rights of anyone on this board to make a lame argument.

I don't think "CASH" is better and I don't think "ANNUITY" is a better choice I think they both are GOOD options and it depends on the PLAYERS situation or preference as too which one he selects. No one should try too persuade someone from choosing one or the other just because they think CASH is better or ANNUITY is better. They should just offer advice if they have relevant or important information too share.

                        To CASH Only,

Posting the jackpot sizes of different lottery around the country and reposting the same opinion over and over doesn't prove you have knowlege of lottery games, it just prove you have an opinion and you can read a lottery webpage.
