I saw a Documentary about Casino gambling and you think the Lottery Commission goes too great lenghts to ensure randomness it's nothing compared too what the Casino's do.If your on a winning streak either from the card game table or the gambling machines they will either change the machine or remove you from the table if necessary. They want everyone too have an equal chance of winning and if someone is having an edge over the other players they will eliminate that edge however they see fit.

Well it is Gambling just like Bingo and any other game of chance that requires wagers of money and results in the winning of money. It's just not the same type of gambling like in the Casino's.

I believe there have been more millionares made by lotteries than casino, although both have made many losers.  It only take a buck to play the lottery, there is not much you can do at a casino with a buck.  You can lose you money playing either, it just depend on how much you got to lose and how much time you want to waste losing it.

                  Casinos versus Lottery:

Certainly the "chances" are not different. The chances are based on the game you play.

The major difference is certainly the pay-out. Having the state trying to use teh lottery to get extensive money (e.g .50 % of the amount) for education or whatever the major reason for the lottery is, the casino is counting on volume and in some is fine with keeping only 5% or 10% of the amount played.

It is of course not so easy to compare because usually the games are different. Now with some online places offering bets on Daily Numbers it becomes easier:

                  Here a comparison:

State Lottery: e.g . Washington State Lottery

Straight $1: $500 in the PICK 3 Daily Game. (Chances 1 in 1000)

Boxed $1: $80 for singles, $160 for doubles

Casino Lottery: e. g. CaribSports Casino

Straight $1: $600 in the PICK 3 Washington Daily Game. (Chances 1 in 1000). When play five times in a row. $700.

Boxed $1: $100 for singles, $200 for doubles.

So the pay-out is higher even in an Online Casino.

There are of course many advantages of playing in an Online Casino, you can all States, you don't have to go anywhere to play, you apparently can potentially win more and so on and so on.

That is all fine. But I think one major problem is, who are you supporting? If you play locally in your own State you are supporting it, with your money obviously:

In Washington for example the lottery contributes to the Student Achievement Fund, Education Construction Fund, and State General Fund. Basically Schools and such.

I guess that's the main decision the player was to make, contribute or gamble.

                  My thoughts. Good Luck

Casino games have better payouts without question.

A good example would be getting the powerball (1 in 42) vs. making a single number bet in roulette (1 in 36/37). The powerball nets you a $3 win per $1 bet, whereas the roulette win gets you $35 per $1 bet.  MM is even worse, with a 2:1 ratio on a 1 in 52 bet.

Another less extreme example is in video poker. A straight flush is 1 in 9,148 and generally pays 200-250:1. Four white balls (1 in 12,248.66) or three white balls plus the powerball (1 in 10,685) will only pay 100:1. MM has better payouts here (150:1 for 4+0 or 3+1), but it's still not even close to video poker.  Interestingly, you can actually match(or beat, depending on the machine) that payout if you took the powerplay option and were lucky enough to get a 5x ball (500:2).

Blackjack is best, if you're a CARD COUNTER.

You left out another logical way of gambling in the Lottery and that's using "NUMBER SELECTION STRATEGIES" it works just as well as "LUCK"

As casino-like gambling spreads, it will force computerized lottery games to pay back more that 50% to players (ie Pick-3/4).

There's been talk of a Nevada lottery; it's even been proposed that only CASINOS would be allowed to sell tickets!

If only it were possible for casinos to offer a $100+ million jackpot.
