Anybody who follows horse racing knows that, with a small amount of creativity, simple win/place/show wagers have been supplemented by daily doubles, exactas, trifectas, quinella, and even Pick-6 bets.
The same tinkering can be used to turn pick-3/4 wagers into lotto-type jackpots.
For example, you could have a special wager that combines the evening pick-3 AND pick-4 drawing into a nightly jackpot game. A special $1 bet might simultaneously cover straight pick-3 and pick-4 (odds 1: 10 million) where you might win, say, $40 instead of $250 for the pick-3, and $300 instead of $2500 on the exact pick-4 match, with the rest of the prize money towards a "double match" that could reach into the millions.
In other words, if you were to play "123" and "4567" this way, the pick-3 would have to be 123, and the pick-4 must come out as 4567. An exact match of EITHER would pay $40 or $300 respectively.
Other combinations of pick-3 and pick-4 games could be used for other jackpot ideas.
