i usually play the same sets of numbers, but when i do need a new set in the dvent that i play additional numbers...
i have an empty metal candy box, approximately 6x6x5 inches. inside this box i place 53 small plastic marbles that i have numbered 1-53. since the box is square shaped, it's great for mixing the marbles. i gently shake the box 13 times, twirl it forward another 13 times and then twirl it backwards 13 times. i then rotate it clockwise and pour out one number. if this number is less than 43 i use it for my powerball. if the marble is greater than 42 i pour out another and continue 'till i get my powerball number'. i put the marble or 'marbles' back in the box and rotate it backwards 13 times and again, forward 13 times and clockwise 13 times before pouring out 5 marbles...using a counterclockwise pour. these are my five white numbers to be used in the powerball drawing. it takes me about 5 minutes of concentrated work to pick one set of numbers :)
i tend to shy away from popular methods for picking numbers that are statistically 'due' to be drawn. why? because, i keep reminding myself that every drawing is completely random. and second, i don't want to use a method that might increase the chances of playing the same numbers that someone else is currently playing. i don't want to split the prize :)
