Mega Millions rolled to $125 million and sets two new records.

It is currently the second largest jackpot in the US. This is a record high for the second largest jackpot. The previous record was $100 million.

$125 million is also the largest MM jackpot after 12 rolls. The previous record was $115 million set on July 9, 2002. This is probably related to Texas joining MM.

The 12 roll record for The Big Game lottery that MM replaced was $64 million. The Powerball 12 roll record is the highest at $135 million. This record will probably be broken the next time MM reaches 12 rolls.

Good luck and have fun,
Jake

Fja you are right.  We never talk about how lucky the guys who matched all 5 white balls or 4 white balls + powerball are.  We always see them as unlucky as they only missed 1 ball to win the jackpot.  But atleast they won "SOME" big money.

      Back in May 2000

      Jackpot $350 million : (5/9/2000)

      1st prize winner:  2

      2nd prize winner: 72

      3rd prize winner: 578

Total people who missed the jackpot by 1 ball = 650

      Jackpot $230 million: (5/5/2000)

      1st prize winner: 0

      2nd prize winner: 43

      3rd prize winner: 355

Total people who missed the jackpot by 1 ball = 398

Thats alot of people who were sooooo close to winning the jackpot.  Some say they wre unlucky because they didnt win the jackpot and missed out only by 1 ball.  But I say they are atleast luckier than us as they did win some big money.

$150 million is also the largest MM jackpot after 13 rolls. The previous record was $138 million set on July 12, 2002. This is probably related to Texas joining MM.

The 13 roll record for The Big Game lottery that MM replaced was $73 million. The Powerball 13 roll record is $143 million set this week on Dec 24, 2003.

Does anyone have a list of the top 5 highest US Lottery jackpots of all time, and the complete roll-over info for each that shows how the jackpots progressed to get the level at which they were won...

The highest Mega Millions jackpot to date after one roll is $12 million. In fact, every Mega Millions jackpot after one roll has been $12 million.

I predict that if the $10 million jackpot is not won on Friday, the jackpot will roll to $14 million. A new one roll record.

                    Good luck,

                    Jake

                        fja,

Based on the number of lower tier prizes, I estimate the sales were around 61 million tickets.

                        Good luck,
                        Jake

I don't know what the other states did but according to the Ohio Lottery website, this what Ohio did.

Here is a breakdown of Ohios sales and other prize payouts for the Dec. 30 Mega Millions drawing:

" Total draw sales for Ohio: $5,213,496, 4.27% over projections
" Cumulative roll sequence sales for Ohio (roll began Nov. 14): $26,663,603
" Estimated net profit for Ohio from the sequence: $10,265,487
" Cumulative sales from all states: $301,564,078
" Ohios cumulative sales were 8.84% of the Mega Millions total group sales.
" Ohioans completed 1.57 million transactions, approximately $3.31 per transaction for the Dec. 30 drawing.

There's still PowerBall tonight in all the States surrounding Ohio.
