Some years ago, I read a book (the title and author of which escapes me) where the author suggested playing the Pick-3 lottery by using the geographical coordinates of a location where a newsworthy dvent occured.
This came to mind recently, and I decided to check out the system using the drawings of September 11, 2001, and the coordinates of New York City (40-42-51 N, 74-00-23 W).
If I remember correctly, the system worked by placing the coordinates in sequence in a single line, then breaking them up into three digit segments, so the numbers that would be played in this case would be 404-042-425-251-517-174-740-400-002-023.
There were 45 Pick-3 games that day, counting mid-day, evening and Pick-4 games that allowed a pick-3 option. There were 2 straight wins, 2 boxed wins, 5 where 2 out of 3 were correct when played straight, 18 where 2 out of 3 were correct when boxed, and 18 that weren't close at all.
