The Mega Millions cash value is now at $43 million, while Powerball's is at $41 million - and they both started at $10 million on the same draw cycle. Yet, Powerball still takes the top prize because of its longer annuity period (30 PB vs. 26 MM payments).
Mega Millions would do well to extend their annuity period to 30 years, since they have now proved they have the horsepower to roll faster than Powerball.
When the next (final?) big state signs on to Mega Millions, they're going to be a far ahead of Powerball.
