Hi, Emily, I remember when I started posting at the forums and I used to ask the same question. I never got a straight, direct response to the question. I guess is because it depends on what the player prefers to do.  I believe the key number refers to any digit that you choose to make your main digit to include in your plays for the day. To some people it could be the hottest number, and to others it could be the most out (due) number.  You get this by doing a rundown of what has come out in your State. Any software can do this for you. I have Versabet, among others, but this one will give you that rundown automatically. You just decide how many numbers you want the software to analyze and "poof" you get it. The beauty of this software is that in addition to be able to keep your midday and evening draws separate, you can combine them as well in one file with no extra effort.  Also, the software updates, for some of us who don't have time to do this on a daily basis, can be downloaded from their site every week. To me that's the easy, convenient way.  For those who don't have software, and want to do this without spending any money, you can just count the digits on each line to check what has come out and what hasn't and keep a total. After you get your totals you just place them in order from hot to cold and then make your decision. That's it!

Lotto-Logix has the Power Trails system, a pencil and paper system and Red has a frequency analysis rundown also at his site.

If someone else knows anything that I don't, please post it here.

I use Excel.  I have 3 main spreadsheets that I keep track of the pick 3 draws in California.  I keep track of, and count, many things, but in relation to what you are talking about here is what it looks like:

I think most of it is clear, but the 'green' on the right show me how many numbers repeated from the previous draw. Notice that draw 4827 has 3 green squares because all three digits repeated.

Wow, Calif, that's a work of art! I wish I knew how to do all that!  That looks  too "guruky" for me!  :) I wouldn't even know where to start.  My son too is an expert in Excel and Access and all those programs but he tells me that unless I show him the money he won't waste his time on that. Meaning, that unless I can prove to him that I am winning lots of money with the lottery he won't program anything for me. And I ask him: "What comes first the chicken or the egg?"  I just split my $290 winning with him the other day and showed him the other box I had a couple of days later. I hope he changes his mind.

CalifDude (my son goes by DataDude), that is a very nice way of keeping track. Thanks for sharing.

That's just the way I put the numbers in.  Didn't consider making them different for midday and evening.

                CalifDude,

                I like your chart system.

What does the last column on the right signify?

Would you consider showing some of you charts??

                Thanks.

Last column on right is the sum of the digits.

I will be happy to post portions of my charts when I have time.  I work Sun thru Wed nights this week, 12-hour shifts, so don't have much time for computer stuff.
