Since Tennessee just joined Powerball yesterday, I figured I would ask you all this question.

Good question. I think Tenn. has a pretty good-sized population, so I voted a year.

when you vote, remember to take into account the fact that PA had a jackpot winner within 3 months of joining the game, SC had a jackpot winner about 7 months after joining, but it also took SD 12 years before they sold a jackpot winner, and CO has been in the game for over 2.5 years, and stil hasn't had a jackpot winner. You should also take into account that the USVI has not had a ticket win $5K or $100K yet (I think. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.).

Keep in mind, at least two states that I know of, that border Tennessee, which will probably pump a lot of cash into Tennessee. Alabama & Mississippi. Both being (I think) the two poorest states in the U.S. And just because people cant afford to play, doesn't mean they wont. They still dream the dream. I'll be chippin' in on some Tennessean's education.

Put me down for a year, taking median value. Give or take , etc.
Question: What state has had the most winners. Of course some have been in longer than others; so how about unit frequencey : Total Number of top jackpot winners divided by months( or years) having the game. Of course, not all winners live in that state. (like, for instance, people in Ohio hitting from tickets bought in indiana, or Kentucky, or Pennsylvania, for example. Also, here in the North EAst, it seems like all the Powerball states, are boardered by a Mega Millions State. Fun everywhere!

IN has had the most jackpot winners with 31 (I think that's the correct figure.).

well, TN didn't get a jackpot winner in their first drawing, but they did have a $100,000 winner.

i think there is too many states playing power ball and now Maine will be playing this summer.

Maine will not have that big an impact on the game. It's too underpopulated and not too wealthy in terms of the citizens.

Wealth has nothing to do with lottery. I think the majority of people who play the lottery are normal people or people who are less fortunate. I think the less fortunate you are, the bigger the dreams and the more you play. (just what I think, nothing based on facts)

granted maine will have an impact on the game for it's first month or so, but from what it seems like, not too many people play the lottery there. i would think they would rather save their money.

Give it a few years and all the states will be in Powerball or Mega Millions. The more the merrier. Better yet would be a national lottery. Just think of the rollovers and huge jackpots! The winner could buy the State of Maine.

i doubt a national lottery would exist. there are a few states that are against it. there could be a merge between powerball and mega millions within the coming years though.
