Repeats are the key to any successfull Lotto System. By successfull I mean that it consistently gives equivalent or marginally better than Random Selections. If you only get that why bother? The answer lies in the challenge, the pleasure of doing it and the fact that if you get a reasonable win you and your system can take credit for it.
The repetition part can be passive as in a Wheel that covers a good spectrum of the numbers in the most efficient way however derived in which case it is acting like a spider's web waiting for a portion of the complexity to be trapped. If you look in the Sums thread you will see tables where I have tested two of these methods and they work out OK.
The other way is to change the selections and the usual choice is the recent history as then some probability calculations can be applied. However, there is no direct relationship between previous draws and the next draw; you can only categorize it by saying for example given this it has a propensity to do that.
Repeats were the reason I went away from working with numbers. Instead of some 13,000,000 number combinations I have an equivalent number of specifications with sub-components. The difference is that I get two to three times the magnitude for repeats and the method of measurement is the same from one draw to the next.
Now there's a challenge for you!
